the FSB on newer AMD's is either 266 or 333, depending on the chip.
for p4's, it's 400mhz for the northwood a's, and 533 for the b's (2.4ghz and above) |

I strongly recommend an Nforce2 board if you're choosing AMD.
Either the Epox 8RDA or the ASUS A7N8X will fit the bill nicely (both use the Nforce2 chipset). If you go this route, opt for 2 x 256MB sticks of RAM rather than 1x512MB so that you can run dual channel DDR (faster). |

yep, will be a good setup. try and get a decent power supply (Aopen would be great) because you've got a high powered machine there. Last thing you want is instability :/

Get the ASUS A7N8X (preferably the Deluxe flavour) if you can afford it (the fact that you're getting a new computer seems to say that another $100 or less on that mainboard would be a good investment).
Now for some linkage...
Last I checked the Deluxe model was available from Umart for $309. Props to whoever it was on #gather who suggested I get the A7N8X. I'm still waiting on my new CPU though. |
