Sorta taking a punt here hoping that someone may know what causes error codes with stuff like...

Channel Busy Error on Ch 0000001f SC 00000007 M 000001ac Data 0004e180

or

Parse Error on CMDCD 00000001 00001000 dd00101c 09001000 00080004
(the numbers alter in each of them)

Whats happening is ....

HDD died @ QGL, got a new HDD so i pulled PC apart, cleaned and rebuilt it

Formatted both my drives .. reinstalled Windows .... and EXACT same drivers as i had on previous stable install of Win2k

Now, when i try run a game or watch a video or something ... PC locks up and produces like hundred and hundreds (or thousands maybe) or error logs containing the stuff i just listed

Pc sound just stutters, chugs, then locks up eventually

Loading DXDiag also does it ... but only chugs for a few seconds (and produces like 100-200 error logs (IN 3 SECONDS! :O)

Im praying there may be some tell tale signs you may have seen before and you can help me out

Specs:

Xp1900+ (not overheating, its like 35degrees)
Asus A7v333
2 x 256Mb Kingmax DDR PC2700
Leadtek Gf4 4400
Primary drive - WD 80Gb 8Mb cache
Secondary drive - Seagate Barracudda 80Gb
Liteon 48x24x48

Drivers:

Hyperion 4.43
Dets - 40.72 Non-beta
DirectX 8.1

Using Win2k

This driver combo was working PERFECT .. but not now

Could the new HDD be causing problems?
Got new round IDE cables .. problems? (ill try old ones i know work 100%)

In the morning ill reinstall Vias, DX and Dets .. see if i have any luck.

Im REALLY DESPERATE! i have work that needs to be done ... and cant atm

Thx in advance, and thanks if u read this far :D

a few of my friends have had problems with data corruption, loss of performance etc etc with rounded cables,
there is a reason why normal IDE cables are flat :)

Rounded cabled sure look nicer, but theres also the problems that come interference n crap from bunching all the wires up together.
