can some1 plz tell me how to set up a DHCP server. I need it for a LAN party. I already have a dedicated game server i can use that is currently running windows 2000.

if you're using Win2k then just share your internet connection that set's up DHCP automagically

are you sure thats all their is to it? I am planning to have Ineternet sharing enabled for the lan. will it still work when the inetenrt is not connected?

So this WILL work for all the games just like we have static IP's?

yes the DHCP server will continue to function if you say unplug the cable to your adsl/cable modem, of course no-one will be able to access the intarweb but i'm sure that's your objective :)

Epidemik: it looks like i'll be getting the celica (much top ur disgust im sure).

Im just getting an NRMA report on it and if thats all ok i will be getting the silver 89 celica.

I'll post some pics when i get it...maybe ppl could suggest some cool things i could do to it to spruce it up ;)

Or you could install windows 2k server & use it's uber DHCP.

Are all the computers win2k? If they are then they should all assign themselves a 169.254.x.x address if a DHCP server isn't detected, so I don't think a DHCP server is required anyway. That's just for games though, you said you wanted net sharing so yeah just enable ICS and all is well. I use it exactly like what you want and it works when the net isn't connected just the same as if it was.
