Just finished watching it for the first time. Awesome stuff.

The fight scenes were really well done, especially the one at the end. And the acting isn't too bad.

But a s***load better than a lot of movies coming out nowadays (mr deeds for example).

The sequel is awesome, the hot coals and hollow/bending staff sequences are insane.

Some of my favourites (grab these if you see them):

* The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk (Jet Li)
* Last Hero in China (Jet Li)
* Twin Warriors (Jet Li)
* The Master (Jet Li)

Do I see a pattern here ? :)

Also - every single one of Bruce Lee's movies are great:

* Fists of Fury
* Big Boss
* Way of the Dragon
* Game of Death
* The ealier Green Hornet episodes

Up the Chinatown :)

EDIT: Sorry shotty - Legend of Drunken Master *is* the sequel to Drunken Master. Whoops !

I like jackie chan not only because of his fighting, but also his comedy. He is such a funny guy.

I (personally) find him a little bit too much like an acrobat, rather than a serious-style fighter (eg Bruce).

While his earlier stuff was good, his movies over the last few years have been very dull plots with good fight scenes every-now-and-again.

Note: you are entitled to disagree to my opinions :)

I agree. He has become very "hollywoodised" (if that is even a word). Who am I was ok, but after that they started to get a bit funky.

Of course i'm going to go and watch the tuxedo though :)

'Goriest' (sp) scene *ever* in a Chinatown movie - Jet Li in Shaolin Temple I (or II - can't remember which one).

-> The chic Jet falls in love with is a shepherd & (obviously) watches sheep all day. In the middle of the movie, one of the bad guys grabs a sheep and tears it apart with his hands. He then throws the two halves on the ground.

I am *sure* it was a real sheep - freaked me out when I first saw it. The poor thing actually half-baaaas as it happens. Great movie otherwise though :|

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story I think...

He has that num-chucks fight with the Sailors (they use knives). He leaves after his father gives him all his savings...

That the one ?

Jacky Chan's older movies definately pwn his new ones.. Fearless Hyena and Shaolin Wooden Men are classics imo.

Oh, and Mr Deeds is sooo funny!

With that fight with the sailors, he was using a chain dart :-D

Sorry for being pedantic :P but I love Martial Arts, and awesome HK flicks :-D

I still haven't seen the first drunken master movie - the second one is f***ING AWESOME!!! Stupid Toowoomba video stores.... :(

Those old Jet Li movies are ok but all that swordplay flying around s*** is gay compared to Jackie doin everything for real.

I can't stand most of Bruce Lee's stuff cos I can only find it with f***** POOFTER MORON American over dubs *cries a river of tears at teh destruction of awesome movies*

Man I can't believe you don't rate Fist of Legend with those other Jet Li movies!! Its a remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury and is better simply cos it is not overdubbed... plus almost all the fighting is real (little use of wires) and the story is awesome!

I enjoyed the Bruce Lee story but I have 2 main gripes:

1 - the fight scenes suck
2 - its quite innaccurate. Bruce didn't get a bad back from that guy kicking him, it was actually from a training accident.

Jackie Chan in drunken master II actually fell on those fire coals at the end, it was all real. Hes actually getting slack these days. My old kung fu siefu (master) used to do some stuff with him, and said how hes using wires etc for some jumps he'd used to do himself.

Remember that when you get older you bones get weaker, I doubt the studios would want downtime from him being injured if they can avoid it.

funny rock - you are correct. It was a chain-dart not numchuks

Are you implying Bruce Lee used wires AnaRoT ??? >:/

The original has far better fight scenes (IMO).

There are three drunken master movies - two of them feature Jackie Chan, and the other some other guy (whose name escapes me). All three are pretty good.

The only time I've seen Jackie Chan using wires is in one flick where he jumps from a truck off a bridge (that's about 100metres above the ground) and into some plastic construction tape which sort of rips away and he swings to the ground on it. And it's a good thing he used a wire too or he'd have died - cos the plastic rips away completely.

As for the quality of his recent movies... it depends. Are you watching his HK ones or his USA ones. He's still doing movies in HK even while working Hollywood. Accidental Spy, Who Am I, Gorgeous... There are a couple older ones that I still haven't been able to track down too - like Thunderbolt. The HK ones are classic Jackie while the Hollywood ones suffer from typical hollywooditis.

Also, I can't blame him for slowing down. He is getting older :)

As if I insinuated that Bruce used wires, I was talking about Jet using wires..... I can't watch Fist of Fury... that overdub makes me cry man :(

Jackie's best movies are definitely his Hong Kong ones!
