Ahead of even more time with the game over the next two weeks at Activision's annual Activate showcase (which we'll be attending), AusGamers had a chance during E3 to get down and dirty with the latest Call of Duty entrant, Call of Duty: World At War.

We've been sitting under an embargo until this week though, but we have for you here an extensive hands-on that highlights much of what the game has to offer plus a few hints at what we might be able to expect. We also have an exclusive video of the series' Military Advisor, Hank Keirsey, talking about the Pacific Campaign prior to our hands-on session.

As usual, be sure to check out our Call of Duty: World At War game page for more info and media.

I checked this out again yesterday in a semi-private session here in Leipzig and saw a bit of a new chunk of the game (although some of it I think was the same as what Steve and I both saw at E3). It is looking really cool; the CoD4 engine has been expanded on nicely and is looking fantasic. This is still the best-looking FPS game I've seen either at E3 or Leipzig in terms of graphics and gameplay. It's so full on though; there's just so much happening in battle scenes - tanks smashing around, planes crashing into the ground, snipers falling out of trees, people bursting into flames.

cod4 is still awesome to play. as long as they keep the sweet gameplay i dont really care about the environment

I'm just really expecting - after everything I've seen - for the multiplayer top open up ten-fold as a result of destructible environments.

Can't wait.

I forgot to mention the earlier, plus we were under an Nda so not sure if I could have said anything anyway... But at a Games For Windows event at e3 I got to meet kornelia, who the oldschool will remember as one of the early quake goddesses from back in the day. She was demoing this game and I had a great chat with her, barely restraining my fanboyism. Basiscally though it sounds like treyarch are fully committed to making the pc version of the game much more than just a weak port; speaking to kornelia she is still clearly fully passionate about the superiority of the PC as a gaming platform, especially for fps games. So it's looking good for the Pc community, which is some rare good news.

aussie troops are never included because it just unbalances the game as we are so f***ing awesome.

i think the closest we got to being in a game such as this was in MOH: pacific assualt.. i remember stumbling across this little aussie soldiers beach shack.. it had our flag and other small stuff in there. hooray.
