A post over on the official trackmania forums details the extra content also on offer which includes a whole swag of new tracks and cars.

The TrackMania United Forever update can now be downloaded here (900MB) locally from AusGamers. Please note however that this patch cannot be applied to the Steam version of TrackMania United.

Destructoid.com has a post that quotes:

2. Before anyone asks - No, the game will not have Starforce in it. Starforce is gone, bye bye, at least for this and future TM titles.

Which is a big plus to newcomers as the Original Trackmania Nations had Starforce. Which I thought was incredibly bizzare as it was free game.

That said Trackmania is alot of fun & hopefully with the removal of Starforce will increase the audience.
