Atari Australia has announced the Xbox Live and Games For Windows demo for their upcoming release, Clive Barker's Jericho, is now available from the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PC demo is available from the Atari website or from the official Codemasters Jericho page. The PS3 demo will be available from the PlayStation Network from October 4.
Clive Barker's Jericho dispatches players to the Middle-Eastern city of Al-Khali. Controlling the Jericho squad, a team skilled in both conventional and paranormal warfare, players fight through different time periods from the city's history on a gruelling journey to unravel the legend of the First Born, God's first aborted creation of man and source of ultimate evil.

Thrusting gamers into the heart of this unique horror FPS, the demo is taken from the time of the Crusades in Al-Khali's past. A vicious attack has divided the squad, with one half presumed lost. As the demo opens, players join Sergeant Billie Church, Lieutenant Abigail Black and Sergeant Frank Delgado in the blood-drenched sewers and catacombs of a fortress.
Sounds decidedly Clive Barker. We'll be grabbing the demo and sharing our thoughts on the game in the coming days (so if you don't want to waste bandwidth yet, just hold out for the AusGamers Jericho treatment).

Update: Now available locally right here from AusGamers Files.

Leeching now.

I liked that Undying game Clive Barker put his name on ages ago so I hope this is just as good.

It looks pretty interesting, haven't tried the demo yet though, but I was considering getting it based upon previews and interviews and videos and stuff. But it comes out in November which is absolutely chock full of games I want to get, so I dunno now. In november I gotta buy:

Asassin's Creed
Metroid Prime: Corruption
Army of Two
Mass Effect
Mario Galaxy (looking to break a trend and buy my first mario game)

Then theres games which look interesting but I'm not 100% sold on yet like Kane and Lynch, Need for Speed: Pro street, Sonic & Mario olympics, COD4 and Jericho. Its just a ridiculous month for games, I'm gonna be so broke :(

k just played the demo and good GOD did it kick my PCs ass. i doubt if i ever got above 20 fps. looks like im buying it for my xbox. no way i can afford a system that would run this well.

Pros
----
- looks brilliant.
- characters are exactly what i expected from clive barker.
- atmosphere is pretty dark and evil which is fitting considering the story.
- can switch between characters at any point.
- gears of war style squad system where you can revive a "dead" mate.
- while it may seem odd at first, each character has 2 weapons and 2 powers which works pretty well. church is awesome (im a sucker for ninja-esque characters)

Cons
----
- needs a beast of a system that only the most hardcore pc gamer will be able to afford.
- parts where you have to tap buttons to play out the scene, while awesome to watch, seem to be overly hard and require you to memorise button presses which only give you a half second window to push the right one.
- for the demo there is no slow entry into the game. right away you thrust into the action and pretty confusing at first. i dont expect this in the final game though

I had a quick play of the demo last night. I am happy with this games for windows thing meaning it supports the 360 controller for PC properly. It even lets you move around the menu with it WOW. Button overlays for all the parts when you need to press buttons at certain times etc.

The demo ran perfectly on my PC though it is kinda pimp atm (c2d 6750@3.4ghz and a 8800gts). Game looks like it could be a bit of fun.

Just had a go then and thought it was pretty boring. Couple of things I really hated: first were the visuals, it was like they tried to make EVERYTHING look slippery/polished. For a game level that's set in an underground cave, all the surfaces shouldn't look like someone come along and polished all the bricks/urns thru-out the place. Second was the ammo with the gun. It was like you hold down the fire button for a few secs and then you have to reload again. When I'm blasting the s*** outta something I wanna feel like I'm doing an ass-load of damage. The way they've got things setup feels completely the opposite.

They need to settle the f*** down with making everything look all shiny! And the part with the Dragons Lair type control system was complete ass. Anyone who played that game back in the 80's will know what I mean.

Definately won't be buying this one.

Well, I'm officially interested in this game now. I thought the demo was pretty cool. Shooting a sniper rifle and then manipulating the trajectory with telekinesis is pretty f***ing cool.

Probably wont buy it, but it's definitely a rental for me.

I thought it was awesome fun. Graphics were brilliant, and it ran very smoothly in all situations on my X2 5600+ and 8800gts. While I agree it was all very shiny and what not, it still looked rad.

The special abilities work pretty well once you figure out what the heck you're doing.

Just looks like good mindless blasting fun with great graphics and a cool atmosphere. If it's got a nice storyline as well (which it should) then it ought to be an all round great fun game.

Whats the atmosphere like in the demo? Like are they going for a creepy, scary sort of atmosphere that freaks you out, or is it just about action and the creepyness/freakyness is more in the design of the enemies and stuff?

I haven't finished the demo, but I definitely didn't feel the same reluctance to go around a dark corner as I did in some other games. Seems to me the creepiness is in the enemy design more than the actual gameplay and atmosphere.

The playable characters looked like complete emo's.

A Jericho team looks like its built up with 2 emo's that have magical powers plus a big beefy strong macho dude to make up for the lack the manliness.

I also shared similar thoughts to rev, pansy assed auto pistol and sword or sniper rifle with exploding bolts or some s***... boring. I was sad when I couldn't switch Mr. Buffman to tear some monster ass up with his big gun.

Demo was hella short too and far from enough to make me want to purchase the game.

Also no jump in a FPS... what the f***edy f***?

How to do that? I pressed space and it had 3 options church, the chick and the a symbol thing, left and right names changed but it didn't seem to do s*** when I pressed a.

pressing the symbol takes you to the other team, of which the big dude is a member. or you could have put the cursor on him and hit space...
