Just installed it then and it runs like complete ass on my system. f***s me why, I've got an Athlon 6000+, 8800GTS and 4gig of ram and it runs like s***. From the very beginning in the options menu it was a chore to move the mouse around the screen to check the options because it was so jerky. Even turned the detail down to medium and it still runs like a two dollar hooker. And to make things worse the game had to be restarted when I changed any of the video settings.

Don't think I'll be bothering with this game.

You should be getting sweet frames on that rig, ET:QW is the most performance optimised game i've played in a while.

Yeah Rev it should be running fine on that rig .

Apologies for the cross post , but this may be helpful for you

V. TROUBLESHOOTING
-------------------

-=VIDEO ISSUES=-

Most video issues can be resolved by installing the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer's website.

ATI: http://www.ati.com
NVIDIA: http://www.nvidia.com

PROBLEM: DESKTOP MUST BE SET TO 32 BPP MODE
If you receive this error when attempting to launch ET:QW, you will need to set your desktop to 32 bit color:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel through Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2. Double click the Display icon.
3. Click the Settings Tab.
4. Under Color quality, select 'Highest (32 bit)' and click OK.
Once the new settings are applied ET:QW should launch normally.

PROBLEM: SOFT PARTICLES DO NOT WORK ON ATI CARDS

As of the release of ET:QW, the Soft Particles option is unavailable on ATI cards, and will be grayed out in the main menu.

PROBLEM: BRIGHTNESS SLIDER LOSES FUNCTIONALITY IN WINDOWED MODE

The brightness slider in the main menu may lose functionality when exiting fullscreen and entering windowed mode. Exiting and restarting the game fully will resolve the issue.

PROBLEM: POOR PERFORMANCE WITH DUAL MONITORS

Some users may occasionally encounter poor performance when using dual monitors on the Nvidia Geforce 8 series of video cards with Dual View enabled. To resolve this, follow these steps:

1. Right click on the desktop.
2. In the window that appears, left click the Nvidia Control Panel.
3. Once inside of the control panel, click on manage 3D settings.
4. Under the Global settings tab, look for the Multi-display\mixed GPU-application.
5. Click on the text that says single display performance mode and make sure that it is applied.

PROBLEM: ERROR DURING INITIALIZATION WHEN LOADING

If this error is received with messaging that includes "ERROR: The current video card / driver combination does not support the necesary features", this is likely due to outdated drivers or possibly having the Extension limit enabled in the NVIDIA Control Panel. To disable this, follow these steps and try re-launching the game:

1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel
2. Select 'Manage 3D Settings'
3. Find the 'Extension limit' option, and set it to 'Off'.
4. Apply the changes and then re-launch the game.

from the internode host site for the demo

Hope it works out for you

Cheers

Its really weird, this game runs like total s*** on my computer as well. I have an x1900XT and a 3800+ athlon 64bitwhateverness and 2gigs of ram.

People with slower computers than mine get way better framerates and no driver messing would save it. So ive given up on it... TF2 will s*** on this game from height for multiplayer fun and I really only have time for one game anyway :P

Thanx man, I'll give the dual monitor thingy a go tonight. I wonder if that's the reason that new Medal Of Honor game ran like s*** as well?

EDIT: OK, just changed it to single display mode and the game runs fine now. Got everything maxed out and it works perfectly.

Thanx heaps.

Disappointed with the game, not gonna buy it. Very bland and ordinary.. Doesn't have that "wow" factor.

Yeah, it doesn't really interest me much. Not that its a bad game or anything, but I'm pretty sick of FPS/Battlefield games in general, so only the ones that do something different (ie Bioshock) or really stand out (ie TF2) grab my interest these days.

Are there still PC games that you can just install and they'll work without 6 million f***arounds?

installed.. runs @ 80fps+ in widescreen on Dads crappy old 7600gt the same as the beta does

that said Dad has an Intel e8650. I'm thinking that this might be one of those games that requires a decent cpu before decent videocard. I thought these days were over :/

*edit* nah runs beautifully on an Intel 2.8c with same videocard. 1gig of ram.

That server browser is stupid, i see how many servers it refreshes the first time, so i add the GA servers to my favourites thinking that next time i load up i can just select favourites and find them in 2 seconds... nope the game decides to refresh every goddamn server and then just show me my favourites when it gets to them.

I didn't mind the game, lots of missions to do. I could see it getting somewhat repetitive after a while though.

The HUD mission display makes it easy to find missions though and do team helping things. I find that each class is useful too.

O, and railguns :D

It's good, it's like a good version of bf. Nothing overly new, but something untill tf2 atleast.

I played it for about an hour last night and what I've seen so far I reckon it's pretty cool. Be heaps of fun LAN'ing but I never do that any more so I can't justify spending money on it.

I cannot believe this was not in the demo. I sort of get why the console is disabled by default (although I think its still lame), but I don't know why alt-enter is disabled. I guess if they found out that on a lot of video cards it crashes the game or something?

Ok so I downloaded this and installed on my computer works completely fine until about 5-10 minutes gamepay it just crashes. The game freezes and my monitor goes to sleep but the game still seems to run in the background as I can here the sound still going.

the beta was doing that for me sometimes. sometimes it would do it within 5mins, other times i would get a good hour of play without it happening at all.

Gave it a go.
Wasn't overly impressed with gameplay.
Graphics models/textures are nice... Ground textures are a bit meh.

OC'd 3.2Ghz Dual Core.
8800GTS 640mb
2gb Ram.

1280x1024 (yes I like to run non 4:3)
4xAA
Max detail.
Runs flawlessly but its still meh.

Finding Opposing Fronts more fun! Except vs. homo's who are exceptionally spastically good at it.

Had a go tonight...was fairly disappointed really.

Gameplay:
Seems a lot like BF2142...actually most of the game felt like BF2142 and I hated that game a lot. Movement around in the game feels wrong too, not sure why but it just does. Weapons....didn't like the feel of them. Also they seem to have the whole shoot and instant hit thing going at range. Found it hard to not lead and get used to that kind of 'shooting'. After a while I got a bit more into the gameplay. Maybe it grows on you or something.

Graphics:
A bit meh! OK, but meh! I was expecting more of a work out for my GPU :( Everything looked fairly s*** house for the most part. Also I had to uninstall the 7.8 catalyst drivers for the latest 7.9's to get get the demo to load.

Sound:
Irritating.

Overall:
Just really disappointing. I'm glad I didn't pre-order it now.

Gameplay: Boring/5
Graphics: Average/5
Sound: Kill me now/5

On the plus side...was able to run at 1680x1050 @ max settings on a 22"WS (except no AA). Played smoothly (though I don't think there was much to really push the limits graphics wise).
