my cliff notes from what ive seen from nintendo, sony and microsoft -

microsoft - nothing new and nothing really that exciting, which to me shows they are more into putting on a big show then they are about showing off new content *which imo is what e3 is really all about* whilst they did show off more stuff for halo 3 and other such games really this stuff could of been released any old time and just wasted journalists time at e3. highlights were seeing rockband in action and peter moore pausing the game accidently, the live action halo trailer with actors, and gameplay of cod4.

nintendo - rehash of some old s*** but really it was to prove a point, and that is that nintendo want to not make money just from core gamers but from everyone and have balls big enough to venture into other areas to attract new demographics to gaming through titles like nintendo, brain age and wiifit. high lights were wiifit in action and more mario galaxy goodness.

sony - suprisingly with the best information this year. showed alot of things they showed last year but this year could actually show more meaningful content, i got the impression that the ps3 was rushed to meet the release of the other consoles *even though it still came out later then the others* i got this impression from the fact that there is a huge lack of good content out for it now but heaps just on the horizon. highlights were ps3 home, killzone, haze the new socom, mgs4 and the promise that the ps3 will turn out to be a pretty decent console after all.

i skipped over alot cause this is just cliff notes and everyone really had alot more on show, except for maybe microsoft whom had nothing new. not to bag them out i admire the fact that they are the biggest provider of HD content in the us and are broadening that globally and the fact they push other console manufactures to new limits but really as far as games go it was pretty ordinary from them this year.

but my hat goes to sony, i actually want a ps3 now after spending a year completly dismissing the fact of buying one, now i look forward to a few good titles to come otu and walking into eb and to pick one up.

My impression is that none of the big three consider E3 that important anymore. They put in a token effort and that was about it. Expect to see the big showstoppers at shows like X07 and TGS imo.

looking forwards to the new star wars game trailer (force unleashed)
i cant remember if the game was going to be on pc or just consoles though. it better be on pc =S

this sounds interesting, if youre a star wars nerd like me. (quoted from CVG)

Entertainment Tonight is scheduled to host the world TV premiere of a special preview of The Force Unleashed, including the very first look anywhere at the trailer for the next chapter of the Star Wars Saga, which debuts from LucasArts in Spring 2008.

There's so many trade shows now (Game Developers' Conference, E3, Leipzig Games Convention, Tokyo Game Show), what's the point in them putting all their eggs in one basket?

here's a great demo of super mario galaxy. looks very good and just shows that devs need to put some effort in on the wii graphics, the fur shading looks sweet.

Personally I've preferred Microsoft's approach much more this year.

Give a f*** about games that aren't coming out for another 2 or 3 years (and in Sony's case, pre-rendered s*** that looks nothing like the eventual game). Microsoft's display was all about the games they have coming before the end of _this_ year.

It's always sucked in the past where the biggest most exciting games are those that are waaaayy off, and everything else seems to then pale in comparison, much better being able to look at stuff that's only a few months away.

Yeah, I'd have to say, Microsoft have the most games coming up that I'm excited about. Mass Effect just looks awesomely awesome.

i agree that its not to see microsoft showing off games that are coming out this year, however i thought e3 was all about showing off stuff thats in development, i think microsoft can show off stuff thats coming out in the normal way... which they will do anyway and show off what they have install for the future at e3.
