There's a Q&A with 3D Realms' creative director Raphael Van Lierop over on Gamasutra. It makes mention of what they're working on over at 3D Realms, like the still upcoming Duke Nukem Forever, as well as what they won't be working on, like RPGs.

I think once Duke Nukem Forever comes out, and is great, that's all people will care about. Again, 3D Realms is more than just Duke Nukem Forever. Half-Life 2 was delayed how long? People kept asking for it, and complaining, but once it came out, and turned out to be like the best game ever, nobody cared.

It's a big call likening an unproven DNF to the success of HL2, but we can only hope they're right and not just hyping their wares.

It looks like interest is set to rekindle around 3DR with several big announcements in the pipelines for the coming months.

Also, wasn't HL2 only delayed like a year after it was announced? Thats a pretty big difference...

What I was about to say... DNF has become an absolute joke.

Team Fortress 2 on the other hand has redeemed itself with its pure awesomeness.

yeah DNF is i think without doubt the biggest joke in the gaming world. sure HL2 was delayed but only by like a year. DNF is coming up on 10 years (if it was supposed to come out in 98, and its now halfway through 07) and people just dont expect it to be released. i get the feeling too that if it finaly comes out it will be striken with daikatanaism.

As chub said, TF2 was the other big delayed game. Much more so than HL2. tf2 was announced around the same time, changed engines and released preview media, then just disappeared only recently resurfacing as a completely different game.

I guess at least, they seem to have the same vision now for Duke 4 as they did from the get go, albeit much more technologically evolved now.

That's only because Daikatana got released, and it was such an embarrassment no one can even mention it (or spell it?).

I expect nothing less than Deus Ex-eque quailty from DNF.

They are aiming for September 2007 with TF2

Yeah, they also said they were making the HL2 expansions episodic so they could release them more timely.
