Microsoft have announced the release of XNA Game Studio 2.0:
The new version builds upon XNA Game Studio Express, released one year ago, and includes the ability to create online, cross-platform multiplayer games for Xbox 360 and Windows using Xbox LIVE and Games for Windows -- LIVE, respectively. XNA Game Studio 2.0 adds more than 15 new features and is available for download from http://creators.xna.com/

here's a game for everyone to play:

"press the X button to sign this petition to make MS include a kb and a mouse with the next console."

I just don't know why they didn't do this already... are they really that worried that if they did the competition would turn around and pwn them with the same idea?

Probably because the number of people who would actually care and use the feature would be too small to worry about. Most people who buy games consoles aren't THAT into games, it's just the cheapest way to do it. That, and a control pad is a lot simpler to use than a keyboard and mouse for most people.

Not saying that I think keyboard and mouse support would be bad, just saying I don't think as many people would want it as you may think.

I'd buy a mouse/keyboard combo in an instant if it was for the 360. I suck at using the control pad for FPS stuff so the machine just sits here doing nothing most of the time.

Anyway it's certainly interesting having this cross-platform multiplayer gaming concept. Finally a way to prove mouse + keyboard combo is far more superior.

wasn't there a quake3 version on dreamcast or some s***? I remember a console version of some game either q3 or one of the UT iterations and console people got SLAWED.

Why turn a console into a PC? Why try and homogenise all gaming experiences so that they're all the same? Variety is the spice of life after all.

I've tried to play WoW on my computer in the lounge room with wireless keyboard and mouse.

It felt awkward and mousing in particular sucked. I don't think that KB&M would make a good default control setup for lounge rooms.
