F.E.A.R. Combat has been released! You can grab this free, standalone multiplayer game locally from AusGamers (we've also got a torrent). You'll also need a CD key to play - sign up over on the official site.

I believe we actually have the client up for grabs before the official site, which appears to be suffering from some technical difficulties :)
The site's being flooded but some people are still managing to get it. I was surprised to see it here so quickly, thanks for staying up so late :)

I assume you got it in advance?

yeah its awesome for a free game, good fast action but no real depth imo.

its so chaotic with constant slo-mo goin on and s*** flying everywhere in tight claustrophobic maze maps. not really my style but still good for a quick f*** around.

One of the seeders is the same server you downloaded it from so you just need to wait for it to kick in properly. A definite benifit of the torrent, especially for a file this size is that it hashes the entire thing so you don't have to worry about a possibly corrupt download.

Or if you did get a corrupt download from http, you could use the torrent to repair it.

its alot of fun for the first 15-20mins. So damn hectic and you need a decent PC so that you can max everything out. The fun is in the fast paced, s*** flying everywhere, running through smoke and explosions action. Soon as that passes, it grows boring pretty fast.

The only game-mode worth playing is SlowMo Team Deathmatch and it is heaps of fun.

I highly recommend you try it before uninstalling the game :)

Bah! Came down corrupted on 2 download attempts

Worked fine for me, even after stopping and resuming multiple times (MD5 verified too). Though I can imagine how annoying it is downloading that much twice without success.

ummm... install to a drive with more than 5gig?
Bah

Umm..... get a clue?
5 gig will be the temporary space it is using while extracting the 1.8 gig exe before it installs the game.
Try finding what dir windows is using as a temp drive and change it.

Asifnt download it once and if it's corrupted, use a torrent to fix it. Torrents rule for fixing corrupt downloads, because it only re-downlaods the corrupted data

Ok, so holstering your weapon and punch/fly-kicking people around the map gets you 3 times as many kills.

Something is wrong there.

I'm in agreement with the Unarmed being way over powered.

I just installed and had a quick go of DM. After the first 5 mins I found out how to holster my weapon (looking to use a med pack?) Then some guy ran around a corner and I hit fire out of reflex and he died. After that I just ran around punching people, seems to take only 1 hit?

It seems that way.

I also managed to kill two guys with a single fly-kick.
