A demo for Call of Juarez has been released, which you can nab locally. What's this game about, you ask?
Call of Juarez is a next gen epic adventure western themed FPP game. The game's unique plot is located in 19th century Wild West and its gameplay requires a combination of both intelligent stealth and pure reflex shooting. The player impersonates both Billy, a sneaking fugitive, and reverend Ray his uncompromising hunter, all in one game.
We've got some screenshots if you want a look at the visuals.

whoa nelly! this game rocks!!

ive never heard of it before but its awesome. i love the western theme and its done really well, not corny s***.

graphics are excellent, really pretty. but with all the detail up it pushes my system (4000+, 7800GTX, 2G RAM). loading takes forever too.

it has a cool twist on bullet time (slo-mo), and dual revolver action kicks ass.

the gfx on billy's forest level rival oblvions imo, and the horse riding is heaps better. your horse can walk/canter/run/sprint and is smoother to control.

im gonna play it some more now.

ps. try and tell me the blonde chick in the menu doesnt look like anna kournikova!

blarg. What a horrible game.

Alot of potential to be cool, the western setting has tonnes of potential for great fun but they s*** out with the engine.

First off, the load times are RETARDED. Like on my decent system, 3200+ and 2gigs of ram it still took about 3-5mins total to load the one level. That is insane, even by standards from 5 years ago. Load times aside, it runs like s***. Terrible optimisation, if at all and it doesnt really look very good either. Sadly one of the coolest things that I had assumed from the screenshots, that it would be fairly free-roaming and less linear than normal FPS game, was a false assumtption.

This results in a really really clunky experiance, which I thought might be the framerates fault. I turned the settings right back down and the framerate went up but the clunkyness remained. Reloading is a pain in the arse cuase you have to do it for 2 guns, the movement sucks and you get caught on every surface in the game, including boxes and even doorways. This makes the lack of open gameplay even worse becuase not only is the level design quite linear but you also have almost a fear of running into s*** becuase youll get caught on it. I felt very claustrophobic for a game with such big vistas of sky and mountain.

Apparently the indian-esque guy, billy, is a massive stealth mission in the demo which I wont even bring myself to touch.

The only cool thing about the demo level I played was the character being a preacher. You have a bible in your arsenal and instead of duel-wielding pistols you can hold the bible in one hand and a gun in the other and run around quoting the bible as you gun people down... and that gets old fast.

Majorly dissapointed. I would avoid it if I was you.

The game is neat! very well done, great effort to those guys.

(3500, 7800GTX, 2G RAM)

Worth a try, DO NOT avoid it.

nothing... which is why I can only attempt to explain why I failed to enjoy a game instead of just randomly saying something or somone is s*** and not explaining - thus looking like a moron. I guess you missed that class though.

I enjoyed it, there was long load times yes, but nothing compared to BF2, and once it loaded it ran fine. It's not as open ended as I expected but it was still fun, I liked the pistol combat and the draw mode with the preacher. The horseback riding is much smoother and fluid than oblivion's was. Not to mention being able to nail guys with bow and arrow while on horseback.

I'm looking forward to the full version

I gave it a bash, wasn't too bad, looked pretty but I'd rather sacrifice sm3.0 for sm2.0 + AA cause the jaggies hurt my eyes too much.

I preferred the Billy chapter with the horse riding, bow and arrow and rifles. Those shotguns take em down easy :P

Akimbo is cool, but I found that concentration mode thing a bit homo and the showdown. I didn't really understand what I was sposed to be doing from the written tutorial, sure I won but I just moved the mouse down and up till I had the crosshair and shot the guy in the head many times.

It's a good change of genre for FPS as of late, I'd def play through the SP when it comes out. Be interesting to see what MP brings.
