Sony have opened up the PlanetSide Reserves, which is basically a permanent free trial for their MMOFPS, PlanetSide. From the FAQ:

Q: What is the demo program PlanetSide Reserves?
A: Demo players will be able to download the PlanetSide Reserves demo and will be able to play for free through Battle Rank 6. Once they reach BR 6, they will be able to continue to play the game, but will not accumulate additional experience points unless and until they upgrade to a paying account. On exit from the game after each play session, players will be taken to a website that will allow them to purchase the game client and upgrade to a paying account. Upon purchase of the game client, you will receive an additional 30 days of play after upgrading your account. This offer is not available for existing PlanetSide accounts.

Basically, you can play for as long as you want for free, but you can only hit a certain rank without paying.

Like, its awesome, but its like playing tribes 2 on an 800 ping, or quake on a 400 ping.

well I've played up too br5 (only took 8 hours), I had played in teh beta also and enjoyed that, but now, it seems like WoW with the oppisite with god mode. hacking, and placing mines with the eng is the only thing that seems like it does something, trying too kill guys with the equipment I have seems impossible, and even using the MAX units, it seems like their pistols are more powerful then my MAX's shotgun.

Might try TR instead of NC tomorrow, just too see what the chaingun is like, because I see so many TR guys just cleaning the places out with those.

Other than that, It's not something I'll be playing for a year, and I'm not going too pay a subscription as I know what the game is like and it doesn't interest me much anymore.
