Not to be outdone by the Nintendo Wii's success, Microsoft are reporting that they're not doing too bad in the old console battles themselves:

SYDNEY 13 December 2006: It may still be 12 more days until Christmas, but the celebrations started early at Microsoft today with Xbox 360™ recording its highest grossing week of console hardware sales in Australia since it launched in March this year.

Figures from GfK, supplier of market data for the interactive entertainment sector, show that around $2.6 million worth of Xbox 360 consoles were sold in the week ending 13 December. This figure rises to $5.8 million when you combine sales of games software and accessories across the platform.

I have a Wii and im thinking of getting a 360 just for Gears of War.

I played it at a friends last night in Co-Op mode and had a blast.

Don't get me wrong, the Wii is great but the only game good game out atm is Zelda. They need to get Mariokart, Mario and Supersmash Brothers out asap before people loose interest in WiiSports and Wiiplay.

Gears of war kicks ass but be warned you will probably finish it in about 24 hours and the multiplayer (xbox live) aint THAT great, its ok tho. Really fun game packed with new exciting features but really short lived :(

i really want to get a console but I am holding back due to dissappointment with previous consoles.

Im not a console fan anymore but the 360 is pretty good!

360 is awesome fun. I wouldn't bother though unless you can play it in HD. I tried it on a couple of different TV's and it's just not worth it. That's why I bought a Wii.
