Another patch for Battlefield 2142 was released early a.m. to fix a problem introduced in the patch from earlier this week. You can nab it locally from AusGamers.

I decided not to buy this game because of the incredibly long loading times in the Demo, as well as the fact that it's a typical unfinished EA game that will be unsuccessfully repatched to oblivion.

Then the patch that REALLY fixes some of these problems becomes a new product you have to pay for .. again.

/waits for Valve to merge with EA

Oh s***.

I was referring to Battlefield 2 but it seems nothing has changed. So my comment applies to BF2142 too!

its okay, they can afford to lose half their community now they have ingame ads doubling their revenue!

-it costs 90$ yet has ingame adverts

I paid $25 for mine. Downsides:
- Takes around 3 - 5 days to arrive
- Package an shipping costs as much as the game itself (order a couple with some mates an split shipping)
- You do get a Thai language version however once installed, you can change the default language in the registry - google for instructions on what to change. However all your really buying here is the CD-Key, so if you have access to a mates DVD, install off that and your off and running debugging for EA.

Router can be set up to block ingame advertising ports

The bugs, well.... it's the BF series, nuff said.

I would like EA to make a game where the player gets to screw EA for a change, this battlefield series is so predictable. - the player gets screwed every time.

I bought it from Thailand (where I buy a lot of games actually) cause it's CHEAP and so I can actually say I've paid for my game an play it legitimately instead of being an outright warezmonkey

You can't

That said, EA (courtesy of their own downloader) provide people who purchase the actual DVD a legitimate crack so they don't need to have the media in the drive if they know someone who has downloaded the entire game an can borrow their .exe

DOn't know if that still works after the latest patch as I haven't tried it.

1942 was the best one. They f***ed up since BF2. Vietnam wasn't too bad IMO. BF2 onward are resource whores.

That said, Point of existence in BF2 is awesome tho

There are no in-game ads in AU bf2142 and never has been, dont know what your all going on about .exe files for there is no modding neccessary to get rid of ads that donnt exist. What a bunch of noobs, and ignorant. Check your info before you alter files boys. lol

I'd prolly feel like defending 2142 if I'd been silly enough to spend $100 on it as well

... actually nah, I wouldn't

Doesn't change the fact that if you still think that there are in game ads in BF2142 then your an ignorant noob who judges a game without actually playing it, your judjement is based on rumors and secondhand knowledge, or lack thereof, all I see are a bunch of loud mouthed kids who nock a game they actually have never played, hmmmm, who is the noob?, and yes to play it you have to buy it, $100, big deal, I wasted more money than that a crappy ps2 games, big deal, its only 100 not like its a huge amount of money, unless of course your an ignorant little kid.lol

Actually I think you'll find that noone here cares about the ads, it's more that the game is totally typically broken EA schlock that you have to wait for a year's worth of patches before it is actually playable. The only ignorant people are the ones that don't discriminate when they buy PC games.

i have no drama about in game ads, whether they are there or not, but i agree with trog. EA havent put out a quality game (ie, not just content, but the general robustness of a game) in eons. and even if you wait for a year's worth of patches, you are still going to have a broken game at the end of it, that is not worth 100 dollars of pain and misery.

I agree about the years worth of patches as they are STILL patching BF2, but it certainly hasn't ruined the game for me, I guess I am just a BF fan, certainly not an EA fan though. Cant get into CS or AA and certainly not WOW - to slow, and fear is just mayhem with no tactics - its like really rich mud cake: great at first but looses its appeal quickly.
