Looks nice although I hope the maps aren't stupidly huge.

Definately needs a s***load more players.

And that gun was gay.

And it was kinda hard to make out the other soldiers.

But I'm still looking forward to it.

Yeah it looks like it could do with a bit more work.

But if you consider how absolutely s*** the Quake multi-player test was when it was released, and how much they improved it before the Retail release .. there is hope!

It reminds me heaps of BF2 but as long as the movement and gameplay is better than I don't care. There's something weird about the BF2 movement that I really hate. Just seems like the animations are jerky when doing stuff like going prone or changing weps. Or maybe it's just me.

Battlefield movement and animations are all gumby. They always have been.

The engine already looks ALOT better than any of the bf series; it also appears to be more arcadey and fast paced which is what makes quake so popular and fun to play.

BF has always been a bit slow and like rev said, it just doesnt feel right, and still doesnt - which is why its still considered a bit of a nub game, cause u are so limited in what you can do (not just from the scissor paper rock gameplay, but also by the engine/netcode itself). See how fast the player moves in the clip, how he is not getting stuck on terrain, going from crouched to stand instantly (no gay delay), changing weapons instantly, having a chance to run away and strafe effectively will make inf combat much more fun to play. Yeah there isnt too much "WOW OMG PWN" in the clip, i think they have got the small gameplay things right, which is what matters in the long run.

This will be alot better than any of the bf series imo

The BF games were fun, but the engine was so s*** that it really made it hard to just get in and have a quick game.

Hmmmm....I found that a bit lacking. I haven't played BF2 or BF2142 or whatever the hell it is. But from what people have told me, it sounds similar to BF2142.

Quake engine games have been the only games to get that 'solid' feeling done right IMO.

God I hope they use a better variety of sounds in the final release. The balloon popping explosion sound is farkin annoying. They used the same sound for the tank firing as the tank blowing up as the nuke blowing up ect ect.

Pfft. Fingers crossed.

If anyone is wondering why the tank's gun is so jerky ...

id's game servers usually convert direction vectors from floating-point format to integers when sending them to network clients to reduce the amount of data sent.

This ends up quantising the numbers and hence you see jerky movement. Valve and other licensees have added interpolation over the years to hide this, but it seems id hasn't caught up :/

Also, I hope they add some more ... vegetation? After playing Farcry and the sort, you sort of expect slightly more complex terrain than just flat surfaces.

I think that was a poor choice of gameplay demo, but I also think we have seen more than enough before to know this game is going to be awesome. They should have shown us something with more action.

The source engine is better than anything id has ever made.

They needed id's engine to build Source from in the first place.

Imagine if id had a complete, packaged engine pre-made every-time they began a new game!

2142 is just a mod for bf2, and they expect you to think it's a whole new game.. what a f***ing joke. even the same bugs are in 2142 from bf2.

cs wasn't even thought of in 1996 & the only thing it 'accomplished' from what you quoted was the crouching part. heh, cs.

and what about the changing of weapons instantly? and strafe running? even commander keen could strafe run and shoot.
heh, commander keen.

cs had a delay on weapon change & sure you could strafe, but the quote was 'run & strafe effectively' & cs was incapable of doing anything effectively. just admit you were wrong noob & accept it.

heh,cs.

I thought it looked pretty good. I wouldn't call it a gameplay trailer though, it seemed more like a lets show off this sexy card on our sexy game kinda thing..

Yeah i was comparing it too other large scale battlefield style games, where the movement is just gumby. Looks like it might have a solid feel on a large scale battlefield environment, something that has never really been done. Tho i guess we will never no till its released, its looking promising though :)

Goodwork demon, making fun of CS while using CS terminology to describe Booyah...irony son, irony.

what cs terminology? another damn noob. heh, cs & noobs.
if anyone ever played their first quake 1 expansion, ugliest thing ever, even back in those days.

f*** off. hipnotic was the best expansion pack. evah. & it looked no different to the unexpanded quake... same fukn texture sets (apart from a couple extras) ya noob. hipnotic included one of the best free for all maps... E V A H ! :D ching ching hipdm1

only one thing sucked about hipnotic... footsteps. a sign of suckiness to come.
