Google's awesome search tool for your PC has received a pretty major update, adding a cool new feature - the sidebar: Sidebar, an intelligent desktop panel that gives you continually updated personalized info like your email, photos, stock prices, weather, RSS and Atom feeds, and so on. All of it is automatically customized for you, and ever-more-precisely tailored to your own interests based on how you use your computer. Think of Sidebar as an information valet who’s really resourceful, conscientious and insightful (and whose salary is zero).Their blog post has more information on the new features. Download! |

Yeh, no AU weather. Bummer. Looks pretty neat though, nice and clean. I'm sure lots of people will write plugins and stuff too.

Creepy is correct. A full scale Internet Browser is thier next logical and most probable move.
Googlenet Explorer. haha. :P or to avoid MS bitching, Googlenet Discoverer. |

Just a google version of the old tried and tested style of attacks/probes/analyst reports MS has always had to endure.
Nothing really new there. |

why would they bother becoming an ISP. Telecomunications is a mugs game, and google are smart enough to avoid it.

Google will have the most intelligent and useful AI because they have 100% access to so much random information that can be used to build a cool robot brain.

Google is scary. I mean, Echelon would be hugely expensive to run - so why not outsource its function? Google could easily be one arm of this...

isn't that talk program like the second thing that google is in direct competition with microsoft? first was gmail going against hotmail. interesting time to be alive as 2 corporate giants go against eachother my money is on google. but microsoft might get there act together with some real competition. then again, maybe google will avoid going into competition with microsoft.

Or MS could try more covert dirty tricks. Rememeber until things change, they always have the advantage via Windows OS product intergration. But Google is a very large company, and unlike the browser wars, this fight will not be over a single product. But over many products. So it will be much harder and take longer for anything to become a clear leader. |

Google's Talk seems quite good. Only just installed it. Not enough friends on it yet though.

Google Talk is ok, if you like a really lean IM with voice and that's it. Also it's based on a Jabber IM so. And yeah I just uninstalled it cause nobody's using it here.
