Finally, book 11 of the Wheel of Time series is about to be released later this week, if you have been trying to read this series, with its huge delays and increasingly complicated and somewhat redundent storylines, be sure to nab the 11th in the series: The Seanchan Empire has primed their invading armies and they are advancing rapidly. The people look to the Aes Sedai sisterhood for protection, but the Aes Sedai have grown complacent after generations of authority. Yet as their numbers have dwindled, a secret society has been hiding under the White Tower's very nose. A society rich in power that could make all the difference in the final conflict . . .Let us know in the comments if you've managed to get a hold of this already, no spoilers please! Its been so long since the last one I've pretty much forgot the story, so to re-read the last ten first or leave re-reading them all until the last is penned! Available from the 11th October from QBD For those of you interested in what Jordon is upto, his blog is available right here, and finally, all of chapter 1 of the new book is available right here. OK, I'll stop reading up on it now. |

I gave up at about book 8 or 9 when I realised I could just read the cliff's notes or have someone spoil it for me rather then reading about how some completely useless character tugged on her braids and worried about the future.

Do your self a favour and read Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" storyline.
HermiTech will vouch for it's quality read. |

I found Wheel of Time very entertaining... when i was 14. Now I'm more into niche stuff (not in the mainstream) like WW2 shooters.

Sword of Truth kicks ass !
Jordan.. yeah well.. Pales in comparison to George R.R. Martin's "A Song Of Ice And Fire" Part 2 of Book 2 "A Feast Of For Crows" is due out this month as well and would have to be the best Adult Heroic Fantasy series I have ever read (and I've read a f***ing lot of em). For the first time since Darth Vader (and maybe Artemis Enteri) has there been a villain so cool you just love em. George R.R Martin's style of writing really leaves you wondering what's going to happen to any character at any time. Cause he don't hold back just cause you know, might like the character.. |

Got to admit the wheel of time was good reading while i was doing graveyard shifts and got a little bored but the last couple books really seemed to drag on without really going anywhere.
Sure some stuff gets done in all of his books but there is usually 30 chapters of pecking order crap with the girls and then the last 5 chapters are what he really should have spent the whole book writing about instead of rushing it all and ultimately losing the feel for in the end. I was a big fan once and yes i will buy this book (and the 20 hundred billion more) so i can complete the series on my bookshelf but unless he mystically gained the knowledge that the women in the book just are not interesting at f***ing all and starts writing more about the 3 guys (Rand, Mat and Perrin) where the cool s*** is at i doubt i will do more than gloss the books for their chapters and guess the rest. |

I lost intrest around book six I think. Just got repetitive. I will take up reading them again soon. When I get time. But it was the some old stuff over and over. And they killed it.

I found I was re-reading the entire f***ing series every time a new book came out, to refresh my memory.
After the third time, I gave up. Might wait for the final book and re-read, or not worry about it. Also, the Shannara series rocked. |

Its just too slow. Very frustrating knowing you may never get to the end.
Rather read lord of the rings, even with tom bombadils f*****ry |

I'll give this a go, simply cause of my perverse inability to give up on something I've committed a significant amount of time to :P
I do like the books, Jordan's world, and the writing style, but damn, things move slowly sometimes :/ And just for adding some pointless info to the thread, I'm currently reading The Man in the High Castle. And it's pretty good. |

Guess Ill give my opinion after reading it and feeling pretty annoyed :)
SPOILERS of a sort I guess. Nothing gets f***ing resolved still! so many plot developments still to go and he reckons it will be finished in 1 book :/ He needs to resolve Moiraine. Matt with the Seanchan Egwene and the Split in White Tower Taim and Logain with the Black Tower Fain Galad / Whitecloaks Luc / Slayer and he might want to do the last battle too... So many stupid subplots were developed in the middle of the series that just seem so pointless atm.If it is all resolved in 1 book like he said he will do, all that will end up happening is It was better than the last couple of books granted, but I wish i had the last book now just so I had that feeling of closure and be able to say, gee they were all s*** after book 5 or so. last edited by Lunch at 21:24:12 15/Oct/05 |
