Due to the increasingly regular downtime of qgl1, Jim informs me he has applied some new settings to hosted site's which affects cgi scripts.

Any script which uses an exceedingly large amount of memory (eg, a poorly written script) to do its processing will be killed by the Apache web server. This can be identified by 'HTTP 500 Errors' or SSI not functioning correctly when it has before.

If anyone has a script that is no longer working, post its name and a description here; this way other users can avoid using that script and perhaps someone could suggest an alternative.

newspro isn't working either....

is cgi working on any hosted sites? I can't see that newspro would cause too much load on the server.

Time to post on hosting.ausgamers.com I feel...

The YaBB forums I've set up for a couple of hosted sites are still working fine, and a news program "News Publisher" is also still running. So if you're gonna set a site, up, might want to check these out (and they're free as well).

ANS (Avenger's News System) is working okay on the CFX clan site, and that's all cgi from memory.

The BoardMaster-based forums on the CFX site are also working okay.

I notice YaBB on Clan Central is working, too.

If you're using cgi write your own message board, don't use ubb if you're worried about cpu usage.

But then again, why wouldn't you be using PHP now.
shrug.
