There have been quite a few upsets during the CPL Babbages comp thus far. The first suprise was seeing Makaveli (playing under his real name "Victor") go down in his first game to Prozac 25-15. He then went on to win his next game in the losers bracket against Rix 39-15. The next game he would probably like to forget, going down to Aim 8-0, knocking him out of the tournament.

The next person to report about is Mirage, who won his first game by forfeit. He then went on to lose his next 2 games in a row, his first one losing to doggod 12-0, and his second losing to wK|wolff 26-17.

Now onto the Aussies Pyth and Lobsta. Pyth won his first game convincingly against faka 13-4. His second game was against wK|wolff and he won that easily as well .. 7-2. His third game was against doggod and he won that 14-2. The next game was against Zero4 on DM6, which was a very close game, but unfortunately Pyth lost 5-4. Zero4 did some dodgy no-respawning towards the end, which probably cost Pyth the game in the end. His first game in the losers bracket was against a|pureluck, and Pyth won that 14-8. This win brought him up against czm, who was playing extremely well. czm played too well in this game, who ended up beating Pyth 19-5 in the end.

Lobby's first couple of games seemed to be no sweat for him, winning the first one against |4|immenace 43-16, and the second game against DieharD-r3v 11-4. His 3rd game was against ]km[serm, and Lob ended up losing this 8-2. The next 2 games Lobby played in the losers bracket were both wins; the first being a comfortable 22-5 win over s0crates, and the next one was an 8-7 win over Ins, which went into sudden death mode. Lob's next game saw him come up against [9]c3, who played extremely well and won the match 25-12 over Lobby.

Congratulations to both Pyth and Lob for playing as well as they did, and doing their country proud :) Pyth ended up coming 12-16th, and Lobby ended up coming 17-24th. Well done guys!

The biggest upset of the day would definitely be seeing Fatal1ty get knocked out of the comp. Fatal1ty's first loss came during round 4, when he played Treble on Q3Tourney2, and lost 26-19. During round 7, Fatal1ty came up against the on fire czm, who seemed too much for Fatal1ty, beating him 25-11 on Q3Tourney4, resulting in Fatal1ty being knocked out of the comp.

All in all there were many upsets during the day, and many new emerging awesome Quake3 duellers. wd pyf .. I reckon Zero4 and czm will make the finals, so going out to them ain't too bad a record. Pyth has been the biggest push so far onto Zero4 too.

Just going on general schlappage, czm looks like the one to beat, even tho he's in the loser's bracket. Imagine winning a tourney like this at 16 !!

Elan's done pretty well too (well it's adoptAnAsian after pyf and lob dropped out), but is up against a pretty pissed fatal1ty for 7th/8th playoff.

gotta be pissed with cheaty no respawns tho :( but still wd python for coming, err whatever :D as well as lobsta for laying down some smack. But yer there were some maj0r upsets, blue, maka etc etc.
