After discussion with a few players, we've decided it would be best to enforce a no speaker policy at the QGL Finals. This (obviously) means you won't be allowed to use speakers at the finals. If you don't have a pair of headphones to use, you will either have to arrange to borrow a pair from someone, or buy a pair. If you absolutely can't find a pair of headphones, please email us and we'll try to work out something.

I agree Metal i was at the ggf lan and they where told 4 times to turn it down and they would keep on turning it up 10-20 mins later it gets anoying if your trying to concentrate in a game and all you can here is some s*** kunts playing c-s or the beetles full ball.!! Any good gamer knows that headphones are a great tool for finding pplz on maps etc

Yeah! About time!

Every QGL lan I've been to has had about half a dozen people with speakers (obviously trying to prove their system is completely l33t) and almost without fail, these people are playing Counter Strike. And for some bizarre reason (most likely a genetic defect) they require a rediculously high volume.

But it is no more! There shall be rejoicing in the streets! Well, maybe not exactly. :-P

as far as i know qgl has never been pro speakers in fact it been a good way to really piss everyone off for a long long time now.

secondly speakers suck _alot_ of power once again as far as i know and can led to power outages no that qgl has those problems anymore but its best not to test the power anymore then required

Pfffft. Everyone knows that RA3 is lame.*

*(Excluding ghey people)

Bring back the ctf server!
(Sheesh, at least give us a chance to practise for the
finals...)

Speakers are not for LAN usage.
Headphones are the one true way.

Yeh yeh yeh! Either CTF or a TeamDM server... (or straight FFA, for that matter) I've been having to resort to TPG's deathmatch server in order to get some mad slaw - ra3 gets too full when I want to play, and Optus' DM always has tons of people and it gets a little rediculous. I like 5-6 player deathmatches at most - unless it's a biiiig map ie something the size that q2dm1 was. :-)

On the speaker/headphone front, even at home I only use my speakers for mp3's and DVD's - as soon as I play games I put on the headphones, cause it's the only way to go...

Bah! Speakers are useless, really. Well for CS anyway. I find it very easy to track someone via audio, something that is very difficult to do with speakers.
Many times on QGL HPB I've had people wondering how I knew they were somewhere nearby, such as behind a door. Most of them end up accusing me of using cheats, such as wall hacks, but they obviously use crappy $5 Crazy Clints/Clarks/Overflow speakers.

Probably has become second nature to me now, but I can always tell when theres an extra set of footsteps. A good soundcard and a decent pair of headphones (my $15 buck pair do me quite well :)) are all you need, not a GeForce 2000 MEGA CARD with 10^25865 megs of ram.

Cerb - Q2DM1 big???? WTF????? SIF!!!!

And the likelyhood of those Klipsch speakers having a genuine 400w rms is about as big as the likelyhood of my Volvo beating a 911 Turbo in a race....
