Wireplay presents: the QGL Finals on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December, 2000!

Welcome to our new look site that will run up until the end of the QGL Finals. During the finals, parts of this website will also be available on the day.

The moment you have all been waiting for! Location of the QGL Finals.

Where? ANZ Stadium.

Thats right, the home of the Broncos is now home of QGL! With air conditioning and a grandstand type thing, enough room for heaps of people and just a five minute drive from the city on the freeway: its the ideal location. Added to that, the fact that we can accomadate 300 people and it has heaps of parking, and there is a club to get stuff from next door, makes it one of the best places around (boy did we look at everything!)

On to details:

Regos for the QGL Finals will open at 8pm tomorrow night, to give those going to schoolies week a chance to register before they go. We welcome everyone to #ausgamers on ETG and we are going to have a little IRC party! Starting tomorrow at 7 pm and going till late.

Please read all rules regarding the finals, we didnt do them for our benifit. For those not in the QGL finals (Why not!) we will be running several other comps on the day, with details of these and prizes etc to be released over the next couple of days, these include:

Counterstrike
Starcraft
Quake3 Duel

The all-Quake 3 matches during the day will be broadcast on QTV so if anybody that is in other states cant make it, they should tune in. We will also be running a Shoutcast server with Vic, who did an awesome job at BDI, running around and broadcasting interviews to the Internet.

We are currently trying to organise access to IRC for everyone at the event to talk to everyone online, this will be through telstra's IRC servers.

Both days are quite packed, the finals will be running full on the whole of the event to get them all finished, with awesome trophies and prizes given to the winners at the end of Sunday. Please note that if you or your team are in a finals event you may not enter the other comps on the day. I would like you all also to note that people that have played for a team that are in the finals CANNOT play for some other team in the finals themselves, this is a strict rule, if anyone has an issue with this email us.

We have done extencive bio's on every player that have made it to the finals, these are the elite players of their respective games in Queensland, truly the best of the best. Check them all out, see if there are people you have played against online or at QGL Lans.

To try to summarise everything in this post that has taken two months of planning is impossible, have a look around the site, check out times of games and other information. Everyone will receive a full programme on the day, and this programme will also be avalible online.

It's probably safe to say It'll be secure. I think some of the admins will be staying on through the night as well as all the other hardcore players. I don't know much about sleeping areas because I haven't seen the venue yet, but I'm sure there'll be spaces on the floor :)

Ok ppl bring a tent and we can have ourself a cook-out and a bonfire in the middle of ANZ stadium ....
So bring on the tents hehehehe............

All I can say is thanx to qgl for opening registeration tomorrow night for schoolies will be owning me for sure...

and ive just been going thru the various ladders for duels, tdm and ctf... seems like u guys put a lot of effort into it!...

incidentally saint the reason i couldnt understand the duel finals format earlier is cos - due to that broken link (whatever it was) - the black lines linking all the games werent showing!... that made it pretty hard hey :P~

but yer... now its all pretty clear (still complex but clear nonetheless)...

so yer... thx heaps and if the time u spent on this site and stuff is reflected at the finals itself itll be one HELL of an event!!!...

Saint, I have a question. In the rules it says you must sit at your allocation. Is this only for the competitors, or for everyone? Will there be a way to change your alloc so you can sit near your friends? I would like to have someone I know to watch my computer if I go home for a couple hours sleep...

There is an internal stand in the area we are using. There will be plenty of space in this area to bunk down for the night if you wish to. It might get rowdy, but if you've experienced sleeping over at LANs before it should be no problem. Looking after your computer is still your responsibility though.

You QGL admin dudes continue to impress mightily. Wireplay should give you guys admin of their servers, then maybe we'd see an online comp happening.
