Shouldn't have any problems

I suggest you use the 2gb for mandrake

allocation

Swap - 400mb
/tmp - 300mb
/var - 300mb
/ - 1gb

Each of those have their own partitions btw
So create the partitions beforehand of course, then allocate those dirs to the partitions after you've fdisked

Why you ask?

If tmp gets huge and fills your drive you are f***ED

linux is the most stable platform in the world, but if it runs out of hdd space, say goodbye to the stable working platform and prepare for reinstall

email me if you have any further queries, you know where =)

Mandrake 7.2 actually uses 3 partitions
/
/swap
/home

only partitions it uses, and yeah linux is good :)

I was going to suggest a partition for /chroot as well, but it seems you aren't going to be running a server, so it's probably not necessary.

Also, if you plan on letting other users use the box, /usr might be a good one to farm off to another partition, it all depends on your level of paranoia :)
