So rumours are flying around at the moment about a big reveal coming from 2K Games at PAX Prime, Penny Arcade's big gaming event. There's some speculation that it might be related to this tweet from 3D Realms' George Broussard, a name that you might know because of its association with a little project you probably haven't heard of called Duke Nukem somethingsomething. The post basically just points to this image - a picture of pigs flying, wearing some familiar-looking sunglasses.

Anyway, prepare yourselves. Crash points out in the comments that there will be a live stream of the event at http://www.ustream.tv/2kgameslive.

Did the DN:F project get passed to a different dev team? I seem to faintly remember such an event...

PhysX would be a no brainer, DNF was using Meqon ages ago and AGEIA acquired Meqon.

nvidia are buying amd/ati thus squashing the long running debate on whether or not ati is better.

Hehe, it's probably a round of late sackings. Awesome that they are broadcasting it live ;-)

I'm sorry, James, there just isn't enough programming work on for us to warrant a dedicated soldier AI programmer in the team. If you'd studied engines we could have you in a multi-task role, but only having AI skills is really limiting. Here is a pay cheque for the next month, we'd like you to finish up as of now, please. Thank you for your hard work for 2k.

I can't believe it was actually DNF. Let's hope it doesn't take another decade...

It's been that long I'm not even sure I liked duke. Was it a platformer or something?

Duke 3d was the second best FPS of the 90s.

I know I played it, I think I may have purchased it which in the 90s was surely a rarity but I've got trouble recalling 05 let alone the 90s

It was a platformer originally imitation, Duke 3D took it to FPS.

Unreal Tournament was, and still is, my favourite pure FPS. =)

Unreal Tournament ftw! Was the first game I played online.

Quake 2 and doom 2 also rate pretty highly for me. I remember going pc shopping in 95 with dad and conning all the salesman into letting me play doom 2 while they tried to sell stuff to my dad. Ah, to be a kid again, so carefree... :(

I played duke, was never really that into it. We used to play it at lans a fair but but I always preferred shadow warrior over duke. Something about lo-wang screaming "sticky bomb, meet mr stupid" before throwing a sticky grenade at your enemies face that just tickles me.
