As mentioned a while ago, Activision have released a celebratory Track Pack in honour of St Patrick's day with three master tracks from Boston punk legends, The Dropkick Murphys (famous now for their signature track from The Departed) for Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock.

From the band's sixth album come three direct tracks, all original: "Famous For Nothing", "(F)lannigan's Ball" and "Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya" ("(F)lannigan's" is the most fun I reckon).

The downloadable pack is currently available free of charge from both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store, but for today only - so get in quick.

Yeah, I think it's only the U.S. PSN that get it.

You can, you just create a second account on your PS3 but don't bother in this case. Downloaded content for Guitar Hero 3 from the U.S. store won't work with an Aus copy of the game. Some games DLC is region free but others it's locked, found out the hard way with Motorstorm. Sony need a good kick in the balls for not keeping the Aus/Euro PSN in sync with the U.S. one. The excuse I read is that for something to be released on the Euro/Aus store it needs to be translated into all the different European languages before it can be released which means most things are delayed. Sounds like a pretty lame excuse to me.

Oh hi, where's the Wii GH3 DLC?

oh wait. It's Nintendo & the Wii. Silly me! Maybe come the next console after the Wii's successor they'll finally realise the benefit of offering DLC for existing titles..
