Mmm, minging dirty fingers and dirt-encrusted fingernails around an eye when it's being penetrated by a foreign object... What could possibly go wrong?

I keep thinking about getting one but nothing ever happens. Maybe when something significant happens in my life i'll think harder about it.

yeah thats probly the reason why i havnt gone in, cause i'll come out with a giant tat on my back or something.

I was in melbourne a couple of years back after a crazy all night bender, walking back down chapel st. Went to go into a tat shop at like 10:30am, and it opened at 12.. luckily.. :P

Doesn't anynone worry about the social stigma that comes with getting a tatoo?

Well, for example, you cannot not get into where I work if you have tattoos showing.

isnt that discrimination?
besides you can get just a few in places that are usually covered when wearing normal work clothes.
i think attaching "stigma" to them is very old fashioned
you should see the range of people coming and going from the tat shop.

I don't have a visible tattoo yet but am planning on it.

Anyone who judges me based on some ink on my skin can go and get f***ed.

Long sleeved shirt, problem solved.

There is actually a website dedicated to corporate workers with large tattoos like full sleeves, full back pieces etc. The name/URL escapes me atm.

Well to elaborte on what i was saying better.

I guess tatoos in places that can be covered with clothing are fine.

Its just that working in an office environment or an environment where you have to confront clients on a daily basis, a big ass tatoo on your neck/face or down your arm is not very presentable... don't you think?

I guess the people who get the big crazy tatoos do not have to worry about that kind of stuff?

I am not anti-tattoo. The only thing that stops me from getting one is
(a) my mother will stab me
(b) it would not go down well at all with my boss

For me its all or nothing, I can't stand single image pieces.

It'd be sleeves or nothing.

well obviously you'd have to be a total d******* to get a tat on your head/face/neck if your already in a corporate/customer service job. and if you already got one in those places then you're probably not the corporate type anyway.
forearms i dont see as so bad. pretty common these days so no i dont agree on that point.
fyi i am a Regional Manager for a large National (plus NZ) company and i deal with GM's and MD's and the Gen Public regularly and i have a tat on each shoulder.
i dont brag or talk about it....they are for my personal pleasure. i may get more on either chest or back, and once again all covered during work hours. no probs

no gaz
i'm not that keen. more of a casual connoisseur
when i get the urge i'll visit the shop and see whats available
designed my one for Mav myself and saw the tiger in the shop when booking my old mans and decided to get it. $400 for mine $150 for dad.
same guy did us both and showed us some of his work on his dig camera....awesome stuff out there

would look at some sites though but never really bothered to search

Tattooist in Bundy is awesome - Paul at Everything but the Bike. He did my Mav tattoo. I have 5 now and they are all mostly covered. Don't care what anyone says. I work in Customer Service and have never been in trouble if any of them are seen. Have actually had a customer at the Telstra shop ask about the Cactus one that I designed myself on my shoulder and helped them design one similar for themselves. It's purely a personal thing. All of mine have a meaning behind them, so its not that I just went and got them for the hell of it.

Because of all the bikie gangsters on the Gold Coast.

And yes it is discrimination, but we have the right to discriminate.

PS - Sorry for late reply
