For the next QGL can you make it offical that Anyone cought cheating will be banned from attending the next couple of QGL's.
I dont mean Admins walking around looking for them. I just mean for when people fire up OGC 'just as a joke' or just to test it or something. I dont wanna come to QGL's play on a server and haveing to think wether or not someone is cheating that's why I dont play CS on the net anymore. I'm happy to pay $25 for a CHEAT FREE weekend, that is one of the main reasons I goto QGL so I can play CS and other games without having to worry about cheaters. But last QGL showed this wasnt the case, it seems people can cheat at QGL and go unpunished.

At least just put in big words somewhere, CHEATERS WILL BE BANED/SUSPENDED. They should also be kicked out after being cought, no money back.

qgl aren't responsible for providing much more then that, and then having to gurantee for u, that it's cheat free, nup.

If ya wanna cheat or "test" cheats, set-up up your own server and make it clear that cheats will be used on it...

It is pretty absurd that admins would allow cheats on their game servers at the LAN's... I don't think that they would tolerate it either.

I have heard a few stories of people cheating (einstein ??) but that was on a cheats only server or some BS wasn't it ??

anyone who cheats at a venue wheere the person on the other end of the cheat can come up and give you a good fisting there and then, would be a pritty silly person to cheat in the first place.

Cheating sucks period. We cant stop it happening but if we know someone is cheating why the hell not hit them. That's best and funnest way to do it.

nah i think the admins should get called over, get the dude fined something like 20 bucks, and if he keeps cheating, then he should ge wacked.

I think Toll is right that there shouldn't be cheaters, maybe not as severe punishment, maybe just if they're caught cheating there they are banned from the Lan servers for the rest of the weekend, that way they've pretty much ruined the fun for themselves by being a prick.

I just think QGL should have something in where they sign up saying, you agree to play happly ever after and not to cheat at this LAN, also No spreading Viruses, stuff like that.
If anyone breaks these rules they should get banned.
No-one needs to get banned over last QGL as they, as far as I know, didnt have anything saying that cheaters will be banned. Next QGL they should.

I know its not up to the ADMINS to look for cheaters and whatnot, but they should do something about it when someone is blatently cheating. If you single out these people and say thats bad, the general society will accept that this is against the norms of that society, resulting in a few less cheaters.

its not really a problem if smoone is cheating play on a different server or kick them or somthing. also banning ppl from a lan is a lot different to banning someone from a server you could maby ban them from playing in comps or somthing like that.

the idea sounds good in theory, but if your going to walk up to every mofo and complian that cheats at a qgl lan, considering their low intelligence, is probly going to put a big fight. if i was you i wouldnt even try to fight somthing like this, insted, just set up private servers, and only invite people you know in person (surely you'll know at least 12 cs players?)

They shouldnt cheat at LANs it pisses off heaps of people who go there to engoy a good LAN game.
Usually you cant just join another server because they are full. That means you have to wait awhile to join a game where someone like you is cheating because they think it's not a problem.

If yo dont think its a problem how about you just have a cheat only server, I'm sure you cheaters would love to play against other cheats, or does that sorta kill the point of cheating?

You know when your on the same level as the other people(all cheating). You'd have to go and get a bigger cheat just so you can get the unfair advantage again. and let the computer take control of all your aiming.
f*** I'm sure some of you cheaters would use a move bot if tehre was one, I know some games have dodge bots, but a move bot would be much better cause then you wouldnt have to play the game at all YIPEE

I don't think there should be a rule against using cheats at QGL.
QGL could say no cheats on the QGL servers... and any admins running servers could look around for suspected cheats.
But that's it.

well, as for payment, yeah QGL are only responsible for your seatage/table/network and power, but every time some one asks what QGL is all about they have a good old spiel about "building the professional gaming community in brisbane blah blah blah". If that *really* is their core value, then they really should take responsibility to prevent cheats at their LANS.

I know the logistic problems of monitoring ~500 gamers, but perhaps they could have a single admin walking around all day (or even some anonymous player) looking for cheats. When they spot one, get their IP and take them off the network and tell them to go home.

if your dumb enough to try and cheat at qgl or any other ausgamers event (on an ausgamers lan server) then you probly should be be banned from attending an ausgamers event. but if you wanna create your own lan server and cheat away why should anyone care

If you turn your backs and let cheating continue, than more and more people will use it and then less and less people will continue going to QGL.

I can't see the QGL admins checking 400 gamers pc's on every piece of software they have to see if its legit.

I have reg'ed version of my OS, Half-Life and Quake 3. Plus a few others.

But most other things are very short term and get deleated or forgotton within the week.

Mate if QGL banned everyone for breaching the rules there would be almost no one in Queensland allowed to go.

Cheating at a lan is just faggy... I mean soon there are going to be people cheating at lans enough that it will be as bad as ffa and the only way to get away would be in the actual comps!

Coz I can tell you right now, If I get accused at a lan... I can not be blamed for the status the acuser leaves the lan in.

Cheating will just continue to grow untill the cheaters have something to fear from cheating. Right now there is vertually no punishment for those that are cought. So people will cheat because they know they can get away with it, cought or not.

When you start making examples of people and do harsh things like BAN them from Ausgamer Events for a few months (hint hint) people will think about cheating a little more. Some will stop all together for fear of being cought, even if there is a miniscule chance.

If someone stole a loaf of bread from your shop and all you did was say, "hay please dont do that again" They will steal from you again. And will tell others who will also steal from you, as there is no punishment other then a few words.
Cut that guys hand off and far less people will steal the loaf of bread off you. Unless of course they had no other option (ie starving, then they'll risk it)
But with cheaters, they have other options so this isnt a point.
Punish the knowen cheaters. The ones that have confessed. And the ones that have been cought red handed.
That'll make people think before they cheat.

I don't see why hunter is all for banning people permanently from the lans, after all, he doesnt attend them.

From memory there have only been a couple of instances where people actually cheated at a lan, and that was last lan, and aaaaaaaages back, where some guy was using XQZ2, and some clan were using the speed hack to get a slight speed boost.

I don't mind that einstein played in a private server, but playing in a public lan server is just wrong.

Toll Booth Willy - you can be pretty much guaranteed that cheating won't be tolerated at lans.

I dont see any problem in using cheats on a PRIVATE (PRIVATE for emphasis) passworded server, but using them in a public server is pretty stupid.

If you do find someone cheating, why dont you come up, tell an admin, and we'll go and tell them to stop or to leave the venue. Hows that?
