Their website is a stroke of genius if you ask me. Generates plenty of interest in the site which I reckon would convert to sales. |

The web company I work for has tried to sell MSY a custom designed CMS website - they are not interested - their site 'works'. Same with http://www.superamart.com.au/
I guess I would be interested in the job, maybe as a career opportunity considering I'm paid low etc.., but given that our company makes all it's sites in Drupal now, I don't think I could ever go back and do websites the old way - I'm too productive now. What do you people think of that? last edited by Idol at 17:17:21 29/Jan/08 |

What do you people think of that?Show us a better way and I'm sure we'll listen, someone who can bring new ideas to a company is always a bonus. Hell where I am they didn't even do websites untill I spent a month doing work experience there and just said "hey, I've got nothing better to do today, let me re-do the company website for a laugh" and they made a position for me, I came there for a support role, turned out much better, now there was four of us untill this current position became avalible :) last edited by scuzzy at 18:01:50 29/Jan/08 |

Back ends pretty sorted, mostly pretty graphics and flashing animated gifs of unicorns and ponies with 30 pt fonts and javascript falling snow that is required.

My stuff
I don't think your company will attract a good designer/developer with that seek ad, probably just a bunch of tertiary grads. Your company should at least advertise for a senior designer and advertise the salary range. |

I wouldn't call myself a web developer if I used packages like Drupal all the time. I'd get so bored not writing my own stuff and getting to be creative and learning new things. |

Good CMS's shorten development times and allow fantastic extensibility with community contributions. Writing CMS's is redundant work and hardly exciting. Once you have a good frame work you can spend your time on the little bits and pieces it doesn't do out the box rather than re-inventing the wheel.
Drupal is one of the better cms's out there. It's the lesser of the evils I think anyways. All the CMS's out there suck in one way or another. Joomla = bloated, horrible UI. ezpublish = $$$ & slow. Expression Engine = wau its a blog. Modx = same old crap UI for noob users. Typo3 = omg have you seen it? For .net stuff I don't have any experience with .net nuke or umbraco (wdg alfresco/next digital are pushing this). |

I wouldn't call myself a web developer if I used packages like Drupal all the time. I'd get so bored not writing my own stuff and getting to be creative and learning new things. This is completely false! Infact using a CMS ALLOWS you to work on your creativity and learn new things. Why would you spend all your day typing out the same boring old code for Contact Forms and the same damn SQL queries day-in day-out, when you could be developing something NEW, FRESH, and UNIQUE in Drupal. I don't want to sound like a Drupal ad, but if you use Drupal you will spend less time creating simple pages for websites, and more time developing PHP applications that nobody has ever thought of before. |
