Bryan Cranston (Malcolm in the Middle) stars in this drama focused on a mid-life crisis gone bad for a high school chemistry teacher who becomes a drug dealer after he discovers that he has lung cancer.

Saw this on the net yesterday so I thought I'd check it out. It seems like it will be alright although I'm wondering how it will play out over the season. Maybe like the second season of Dexter where the guy stays one step ahead of the cops seeing as his brother in law is in the narcotics part of the police force. But yeah, it's kinda cool how the guy is a chemistry teacher and can make the purest drugs to beat the competition. And the whole thing going with him having lung cancer and knowing he'll be dead in a year so he's trying to set up a future for his wife and son without them knowing what he's doing.

Prolly won't be the best show around but it seems like it'll be worth watching for a while anyway.

This needs a big bump. I've just started watching it after Foxtel began promoting it. They will be running it on Showcase from the end of this month.

The advert says something like this, which is what got me interested: "Walter White has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer, if this was any other channel he'd have an epiphany about now, instead he's cooking meth".

It's been described as "Like Weeds if it wasn't written by a middle age fat woman", but it's not really that much like it, it is much darker and nastier. Bodies cut up, people freaking out, and a very dark underlying inevitability of death theme.

It's really very good. great characters, many laughs, plenty of action.

Here's some links (warning spoilers - first season has finished on channel BT):

Yeah, got into this a while back, pity the first season is only 7 eps long.
Also, sure, weeds. And written by a middle aged fat woman. On meth. Dark humour, great watching cranston's character come to terms with cancer. And cooking meth. He does a really good job.

Yeah, it's awesome, especially in 720p :) Can't wait for Season 2 to start. Hopefully S2 run longer than 7eps, though at least the next season shouldn't have a writers strike to deal with.

Yeah, this show is awesome, just finished watching it. Too bad the first season was cut short (due to the writer's strike).

And yeah Spook, it was censored for me too. Seems kind of silly, given the theme of the show.

Yes and no, afaik, only the first couple of eps were censored but there was a re-aired version of those eps that were uncut and they are available if you look in the right places. From what I understand AMC is typcially a family channel, why they picked this show up is beyond me, it would have been better off on HBO.
