I formatted my old PC and gave it to my dad for Christmas. It's a P4 2.4ghz, with an Asus P4P800 motherboard.
When I went to install the USB 2.0 drivers, it said that there was no need because they were automatically installed with Windows XP SP2. It looks like that the USB devices are active under device manager, however nothing that I plug into the USB ports will work, whatsoever. This was all working perfectly immediately prior to formatting, so I highly doubt it's a hardware fault. Any ideas? Also, Merry Christmas. Sucks trying to sort this s*** out for dad on christmas day, haha. |

Have you tried installing the Chipset drivers?
Check out the Asus Site http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us Select your board and go to utility's, there is a USB fix for XP from 2007 and also the intel chipset drivers. Hopefully that should = win |
