I've got a new whizbang Linksys WAG325N modem/router thing, and I'm trying to port forward so I can ssh to my Linux box from outside.
I've tried pretty much every combination of settings that I can see and I still can't get the freakin thing to work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it should be as simple as saying "forward port 3000 to port 3000 on internal IP 192.168.1.1 with both UDP and TCP", right? Is there some other option buried in some other menu I need to enable/disable to make this work? Do I need to reboot the modem after making these changes? |

The only direct guide I found (which you probably did too) is:
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WAG325N/SSH.htm Shouldn't have to do anything special. Have you given the default port a try to rule out problems running on a different port? |

what's the default route on the linux box? the internal ip of the router?
if it is, what does tcpdump show on the linux box's outgoing interface for tcp packets going out with source port 3000? |

what's the default route on the linux box? the internal ip of the router?ahah, I didn't have one set. I could get to it fine from my Windows box (on the internal IP) and I could ping it fine from the modem, so I assumed it was all good on that side. Once I added a default route it all started working happily! Thanks |
