This has been one of the most plentiful gaming years ever. Three new platforms, three new next-gen gaming possibilities and all with the never-say-die PC still maintaining strength amidst the ever-popular (and ever-growing) console business.

Here on AusGamers a running joke about Game Of The Year has sparked since our renewed focus on reviews began months ago, and with this, one of the last AAA titles on offer for the holiday season, Super Mario Galaxy, reviewed and awaiting your perusal, we may have found an end to that joke. So what are you waiting for - jump in to see if the Wii is the machine with cajones to really take on the big guns.

So would it appeal to non-hardcore mario fans? I'm not really a mario fan, and not even really a big fan of platformers, but the crazy physics angle appeals to me, is it still worth getting if you're not the biggest mario fan ever? How much does its appeal rely on the warm fuzzy feelings you get when you remember playing other mario games?

What's the deal with the EB site saying if you trade in two Wii games you get Mario Galaxy for half price. Is there some type of catch? If not I'm gonna get rid of Carnival Games and Cooking Mama because they f***ing suck.

what were you thinking getting them in the first place, jesus h

I thought they'd be good party style games. Looks like they sure showed me who's boss.

I doubt they would take Wii play as a trade in.

if you preorder at JB you get it with a playguide for $79.

I did if only to cutout some cool pictures.

GOTY for sure, it just beat OoT the other day on gamerankings. 40% of reviews giving perfect 10s, the rest nothing less than 9.5.

It was only there for a short time, some late reviews came in that knocked it back to second. Still pretty impressive though.

Yeah, I just picked it up from JB on my way home, didn't even pre-order it but I still got the big hardcover book and poster. Pretty awesome quality book to be given away free, I'm impressed. The guy at JB said anyone who buys it today or tomorrow gets one (a book that is).

I wish I didn't need to work tomorrow or I'd be playing it all night. Oh well, home early thursday and friday off, I think I'll be sitting down with some beers and my Wii.

just reading a couple diff forums now and realised THAT guide is the collectors edition, its a really nice hardcover with shiny text and a lot thicker than the standard crappy prima guides, pretty much like the Twilight Princess guide.

And it's worth 40 dollars, not the 30 the usual one is worth. mega win.

so go to JB tomorrow (they should sell it to you if they have any left) and get it for $79, that's a $60 saving if you were to buy the game and guide from EB.

Yeah, thats the same guide I got, the hardcover one, its a really, really nice book for a freebie. I don't know if I'll honestly ever use it, but it sure is pretty.

I bought a copy from EB today for $45 after trading Cooking Mama and Carnival Games. Gotta say f*** it's a fun game and everything looks so nice and colorful. The music is great as well, takes me back to the old SNES and Megadrive days playing all the cool RPG's. So glad I got rid of those two s***ful games for this one.

2 thumbs up!
