The Red Hot Chili Peppers are suing Showtime Networks, claiming they stole the title of their series Californication from the band's album and single of the same name.

The lawsuit alleges unfair competition, dilution of the value of the name and unjust enrichment, claiming the title is "inherently distinctive, famous ... and immediately associated in the mind of the consumer" with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Unless they wrote the song in 1970 i'd say they are s.o.l.

i think they'll have a tough time as the word californication was in common usage prior to their (s***) music under the same name.

but it's america, they'll probably make more off this than their last (s***) record.

I always assumed it was a combination of California (where it is set) and fornication (what he does a lot).

I also thought their song/album was called Californiacation, but it turns out I was incorrect.

They should just changed the show to Boobifonications and make sure that the show delivers what the show title promises.
