hi

i have a group of friends that want to dress up a bit and and head out on the Saturday for some good cocktails. i have no idea where a good bar in the city is to enjoy some good cocktails.

has to be a flashy place with bar tenders that know what there doing, and not to crowed.

any suggestions?

You can hire people to come to you and make cocktails... might be worth checking into. That way you could do something funky like a cocktail pool party or something.

in the valley, press club or barsoma are pretty good. (and the bar tenders are awesome).

Sunbar pretty good... but that valley.. there every weekend

there are several good ones in the valley but I don't know of any in the city beyond shadow lounge.

In the valley: Bowerie (on Ann st opposite the Beat), Press Club, Sunbar, Garuva (down wickham tce 30m past the wickham). There are I think a few in Brunswick st mall around the middle just past Rics on either side.

thanks every one Jade Buddha and Shadow Lounge are on the top of the list. i dont know if the group im with will want to venture into the vally. next time hiring some one sounds like a cool idea. cant wait should be a fun night.

Try one degree on Eagle Street Pier. Its under Vinos behind the Maccas. Great selection, nice atmosphere - small venue.

Great cockatils - though I heard the manager is now dating a particular product rep which has changed the place a bit.

gees all the names of the places in the city are unfamiliar to me... I still can't believe the dome and mary st and criterion and alices don't exist

jorge on george is the only place I've been to for cocktails. They have some bartenders that do the tricky dicky stuff, and I paid one guy 10 bux and got 10 bux change hahaha.

Kaliber, nextdoor to Rics. They've got 25 flavours of Vodka and 3 flavours of absinthe. Nice cocktail list too :D

Yeah my partner used to be on the bar there.

Its alright. I dont know - feels a little sterile or something to me - something about the fit out.

Its alright if you can get out onto the little balcony though.

Yeah its called Chill on Queen and its in the McCarthur court. Its a great place but of course pricing is as expected of the CBD.

another vote for Cru Bar, Saturday its packed just like any other place though :(

If you want somewhere you can actually get to the bar and sit down etc, the Piano Bar at the top of Joseph Alexanders does awesome cocktails.
