Hey,

Quickie for anyone who has experience/law insight.

My girlfriend's cat (lol) apparently went to a house nearby and killed a pair of "Red Breeding Canaries". The cage was located in their backyard.

The owner of the birds came around later and was quite angry, claiming the birds cost ~$400. He also said the cage might have been broken.

So basically, where does she stand on this?

And anyone know anything about that type of bird?

Killing the cat and claiming it never existed is the only option I can see.

Standard of proof in civil matters is only balance of probability so a witness statement is usually enough.

quick question:

1) Has the cat ever done this before? even killed a wild bird?

So she just sat there watching the cat break into the cage then eat the birds?

Hasn't hassled any neighbor's pets or anything - I think it has brought in mice etc. occasionally though.

Lol yeah my thoughts too.

Was she sure it was your cat and not a similar looking cat?

Pretty sure that it was their cat.

Oh and they also threatened to kill the cat if it goes in their yard again.

Upright, telling them to f*** off.

Absolute crap bird - for $400 you want something that can fight back.

So how did this cat break into the cage. Most cats seem pretty retarded when trying to do anything more than pounce on something.

Strap a bluetooth GPS to your cats collar. Fudge some data for the last week in notepad. Go over to the person's place with the GPS collar and your fudged data. Say "my cats never been to this location", hand them the piece of paper showing fudged data for last week. Tell them their own GPS co-ordinates. Show them it's not on the sheet at the time they said cause your cat was down a drain kissing some other cats arse.

I reckon the birds escaped so they broke the cage and blamed the cat

our cat broke a steel cat cage in order to escape its trip to the vet, lucky the windows in the car were up. He broke the lock right the f*** off the cage door pushing on it so hard.

Or something else broke in first and the cat just went to town on free canary. When we owned quails, rats were always worse for trying to break into cages than cats.

We got this cage hanging off the roof of our deck and I woke up one morning to find our 3 birds heads cut off, I still don't know how the f*** it happened. Can budgies do that to each other or was it an intruder?

I'm pretty sure you're responsible for your pets when they're out and about. I've heard of people getting fined because their cat went out and killed protected species. I think it's a fair call, if a pet is gonna go out and kill s*** and be an a****** the owners should put it down/keep it inside.

Wouldn't they have to have better evidence than "wacky bitch says she saw it"?

he is a master at getting food out of everyone in the house, we all think no one has fed him so he gets fed multiple times per day because he whinges like you wouldn't believe
