These things should be totally unrelated.. and yet, there you go. Of course, it could just be coincidence, but I would be highly suspicious of that.. particularly since everything was working perfectly before the migration.. :S

Install SP2 for exchange
install Mobile Admin So you can remotely wipe the phones. My phones of choice is either the Dopod 838 Pro/Imate Jasjam or my new toy, the HTC TyTyn II

Incredibly easy to setup and maintain.

I was worried about what mobile services would do to GroupWise.

Turns out, nothing, stable as a rock. Still hasn't needed a reboot since install about 3 months ago.

Good news!

Now other parts of the server are just randomly s***ting themselves and I've just had a client drop off a laptop with a seriously nasty spyware and virus infection that's done all kinds of horrible things to his user account - as in, restricted access to the Control Panel, System Properties, etc.. Actually, it looks like the kind of lockdown you get on public terminals.. all from a sodding infection..

If I wasn't so s***ty about it, I'd probably be impressed.

I just bought a new place and was only given one key to access this property.

Considering I lose s*** faster than the goatse man on a crapper, I went to get the key copied.

On the key it says "Registered Design Do not Copy Brisbane Locksmiths", so no Mister Minits or anything will copy my key.

I took this morning off work to get the s*** sorted. Went to Stafford for these Brisbane Locksmiths, and they made me wait around an HOUR while they sorted through their files or whatever. I had brought along a lot of ID and paperwork to prove the property was mine - however they came back to me with a Name and Phone number and told me I had to ring up that number and get a signed authorisation from the person with the Name.

I ring up - it's a real estate agent who has never heard of the name I am asking for - and has no idea why a locksmith would want me to ring a real estate agent who has nothing to do with the property to get a key.

So I went back to the locksmiths and explained the woman on the other end had no idea what they were talking about. They gave me another name and another number.

I called that number - again the person I was asking for hadn't worked for the agent in 2 years, and the agent said they had nothing to do with that property. Again I tell this Brisbane Locksmiths. Still they are refusing to cut my key.

The locksmiths give me yet another number, so I ring them. And they tell me the person I am looking for has been transferred to another business - but they give me a number I can track him down on.... anyway withint two hours I had got in touch with this guy - who also had no idea why I would be calling him for a key, he had no knowledge about what I was asking him to do, but I drove over the other side of town to go to his office and convinced him to fax the locksmith a note saying to let me have the key. He said he's never done anything like that before, and doesn't understand what is going on.

Eventually, with several phone calls, driving, faxes, and 30 bucks, I got my key, but f*** Brisbane Locksmiths in their stupid goat arse. f*** them hard - what kind of bulls*** is this not giving me a key... and then I have to get 'approval' from some guy minding his own business who has never heard of me, had nothing to do with my property, and really has no clue as to what he's being asked to do. He could have told me to bugger off and I would be screwed.

How the f*** do you think it looked at work when I told them I'd spend 3 hours getting a key cut. Do you think they believe that s***? They probably are thinking bad thoughts about me RIGHT NOW.

I probly would have just changed the lock(s)...

ditto. if that guy you ended up getting approval from has no clue who you are and somehow he is able to give people access to get keys cut for your place i would changing the locks quick smart.

The system is broken.

Anyway I forgot to mention that it's an apartment building - the guy I got the authorisation from is a real estate agent who rents out one of the apartments.

The body corporate has no knowledge of the key system, how to get keys, or even how to operate the garage door, or where meter boxes are etc.. etc... They simply told me to ring the number on the key to find out where I could get it copied.

This is directed more towards Trog ... when you using the ipod touch and trying to view qgl, turn it on it's side and then use two fingers to drag the zoom level bigger on the screen.
