Nintendo's infamous bounty hunter, Samus Aran, returns to face off against a dark version of herself in this, the last instalment in the Metroid Prime trilogy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Near perfect first-person controls, pacing, design and gameplay make this one of the year's best releases. Hit this link to read the AusGamers review of just what the Wii doctor ordered.

I bought this Friday. Played it until the first boss (so about what, an hour?)... and then stopped playing and haven't picked it up since.

You might think "oh yeah, wiimote for an FPS, that should be rather intuitive", but I had nothing but problems with it. Mostly due to the fact that you've got two cursors on the screen and I always struggled thinking I was aiming at screen center where the crosshair was, whereas really it was off targetting elsewhere.

I might give it another shot thisafternoon, but so far I'm wishing I picked up Lego Star Wars Saga instead.

I haven't had any problems with the controls at all, I think they're totally sexy and so far I'm loving the game. And if you have trouble aiming you can always switch on noob mode which automatically shoots at your target when you're locked onto something, but then we all point and laugh at you.

Its not that hard though, you don't have two reticules, you have your crosshairs, and then reticules appear over stuff you can lock onto/shoot at. Line your crosshairs up with the reticule on your target, press the shoot button, and victory is assured.

I'm loving it too, I poured plenty of hours into it over the weekend. The controls are great, I totally love them. It feel so satisfying to rip the shields off the enemies when they come at you. The hypermode upgrade is f***ing rad too. I remember you had it in the original Metroid Prime, but only during the final boss fight, and only at certain times. Now you have it whenever you f***ing want, and it owns.

I'm more excited about this game now than I was leading up to the launch.

Control style? I just left everything at default. Usually the only thing I'd change is invert mouse/controls, but since it's all Wii Remote based there was nothing I saw needed changing.

I didn't even realise there were different control styles, I just left it how it was. What's the advanced style change form the default?

You had interface / control gripes with a new game and didn't bother to check for options?

I dunno, I really like the motion-based actions. The stuff like pulling levers I'm indifferent to, but the grapple beam actions are great.

I put about 7 hours in the first night and after the first hour the controls become beautiful and the game gets much better after going to the first planet.

It was REALLY f***ing wierd to have all these other characters around and talking to me. It just didn't feel like metroid, felt like s***ty halo but it is still done well, and this game is more nooby than the previous games it seems.

I had been hearing from previews to switch to Advanced controls before even beggining and so I did and it is great. So smooth, I hope Retro can pass this code around to other FPS devs as there is no excuse for terrible controls like Red Steel had anymore on Wii.

I haven't bought COD4 yet because of lack of money and a lot of uni work, but in 2 weeks when I begin to play I know I would wish I could play it with the wiimote MP3 controls, they are just the best FPS controls for a console imo.

And I totally agree with you mitch, I was excited for the game, but not as much as say for galaxy, but after starting to play it and get into the more adventury part it just becomes amazing again, the world and art design is unique and stunning as always.

I don't like the sensitivity of Advanced, like Nats said, the deadzone is just too small and its a pain in the ass trying to keep my view still. I chucked my sensitivity back down to the one under advanced, but kept the free-aim mode switched on and now its sweet as.

Yeah, I tried the advanced aim as well, but I didn't like it, you just can't keep the view still. It's especially hard when you're laying on your side on the couch, and that's just not acceptable, so I changed it back to standard. Sif sit upright on the couch while playing games!
