So I got 6 - 8 weeks before I upgrade my computer for TF2 (bewarned QGL noobs).

Back in the day I LOVED Wing Commander, Xwing vs Tiefighter and specifically Longbow (RIDICULOUS helicopter sim)... (add oldschool I-war in there too, pwn).

I was looking for a ~200 joystick and any recommended flight sims (that will work on XP, got a 95+98SE setup for the others).

Holy s***, theres a playable demo out for BtRL, I didn't realise that, is it good?

I have a thing called RealFlight. I wouldn't call it a flight sim as much as that it teaches you how to fly a remote controlled plane/helicopter (so naturally there's no 'cockpit cam').
