i wish they'd use the proper terminology
rusty pipe =/= acrow prop
and yes, acrow props are very handy things, and good at what they do.

they're not very good at mind controlling the stone to the left of the one they're helping support

f*** sake, we can all read news.com.au too
stop posting news stories from a site that 99% of us would read anyway

i would like to think that he's posting because he would like a discussion to ensue rather than to provide information that no-one else knows, teq.

you realise the bricks have no structural effect on the road

Tanaka "news-master" Khan would have prefixed the topic with NEWS to avoid this very problem.

Photoshopped, you can tell just by looking.

Actually this is one of the greatest journalistic pieces of our time.
Headline: "Rusty pipe supports NSW highway"
Later in the article: "The missing bricks and the support in the sandstone brick facing are not part of the culvert, are not structural and do not bear weight."

Awesome.

I would have thought it would be obvious that missing bricks would not be bearing weight.

wouldn't the bricks stop erosion? and wouldn't erosion be the real killer as it was earlier for that family?

you can see they have placed sandbags around to stop the erosion a bit but still, pretty dodgey.

the road falling apart was from the massive flood and water infiltration i'd say

ahh the dodgyness, all they'd need to do is just anchor some starter bars into the stone and spray some shotcrete.. its NOT THAT HARD. it'd be goin around in circles through the government system though, useless bastards.
