Here's my setup

Study Room

2 PCs Connected to ADSL Router

Lounge Room

Xbox 360 and Beyonwiz PVR

Now I have wired up a network cable in the wall which is connected to the ADSL Router, problem is it's only one cable and I want to have the 360 and the PVR connected at the same time (I'm currently having to disconnect one and then into the other)

I basically want what amounts to a double adapater for a network cable, but I'm wondering if I get a cheap 4 port hub whether I'll need a crossover cable to connect to the router? or what?

Yeah even the s***tiest switches and network cards have had auto-crossover for years.

Just use a normal cable from the wall plug into the router, then 2 more normal cables into the xbox/pvr.

What you *COULD* do, is buy a wireless router, put that in your room (to keep the living room tidy) and plug the cable into the PVR, and get a wireless network adapter for the XBox 360, depends on your past wireless experience though. Mine's been solid for years even get the same ping in CS as I do on ethernet but others have had serious dramas so your mileage may vary.

I put a network cable in the wall so I didn't have to dick around with wireless s***, those wireless network adapters for the 360 are like $180, I already spent just under $100 getting the network cable put into the wall so it's not really an option.

So it sounds like most hub/switches these days have auto crossovers? brand doesn't really make a difference for this kinda stuff does it? it'll only be 2 inputs that won't be transferring data at the same time (this is mainly to stop me having to switch cables all the time)

can't be done, u gotta run another line from ur router for it to work properly

spend another $100 and put another cable in the wall, or hell do it yourself, who will know?

Get a network switch they're cheap, and these days they're autosensing so you just need to plug it in and it's ready.

Seriously your ADSL2 still won't be able to keep up with the available through Ethernet (I'm assuming you got Cat5e/Cat6 wiring) so I wouldn't worry about "loosing" any performance by sharing the same wire through a network switch.
