What card is it? I remember ages when I had an ATI X800 card trying to get the tv in thing working so I could hook up my PS2 to my comp and it was a real pain in the ass and the picture quality looked like s***.
When I upgraded my system I decided to buy a new tv that had VGA and HDMI inputs and go dual display and that fixed everything. But that doesn't help you though, but it helped me and that's the main thing really. 8-) |

Ah, cool. My old card was a 7600GT and I was using the VGA connection from the PC to the TV with no probs. I just went into the the nVidia control panel and told it I was using dual monitors and it worked fine. Are you doing the 2 display thing? Maybe check to see if the screen res it set right in the control panel.

What is the connection type, componant, SVideo??
If SVideo I think you might have to change it to PAL B or something to get it show in color. IF thats not it then I can't recall, but dont worry as there is a 1 thing you change to make it work. Also the "playing" black thing, I take it your TV is either "Cloning" your monitor, or it's "Attached" (Duel View) Sadly I could figure out how to get video files playing on TV while trying to use the 2 formentioned options. If you set the monitor type to be "Single View" & choose TV only, then your videos should play. |

Might be a problem with overlays. Can try disabling them. In the end I had to go to a previous version of nvidia drivers just so I could watch a movie while having two monitors set up.

You prolly already know this and I'm not even sure if this matters, but set the monitors up so they are independant of each other, don't have them set up as one screen between both. First way will still let you mouse across to each screen so you can drag your video file over and play it on the tv.

It's funny, I've been having a lot of trouble getting my 7600GT to do TV out as well. For some reason, when I got into the NVidia control panel or whatever, there just isn't an option for anything but Single View. I had the same TV hooked up to an older video card, but this newer one just doesn't want s*** to do with it. The only things I can think of are a) I'm using Vista now, or b) the video card only has two heads but three outputs, and I'm using the same one for my monitor. I'm quite confused by the whole situation.

Are you running the latest Forceware drivers? 162.18 I think unless something new has come out in the last 2 weeks. You should get something looking like this...

Hmm, that sucks dude. My 32" tv is LCD so I dunno if that is making it "just work" compared to a normal CRT tv. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff so I was lucky everything fell into place when I hooked it up.
