Topic: PSPs for $149 at Harvey Norman

If anyones interested:

Price drop from $279 at HN (Indro). They are selling off stock before the slim version is released I think. They only have the white ones though.

p.s. the one I got has firmware version 2.71 on the TA-082 board...not that it really matters.

They're selling them off before the iPod Touch comes out and makes them utterly worthless.

I think I heard you can play games on the PSP though

I have a PSP they rock with custom firmware. s***house with the sony constraints. Its like you're paying for all the utterly worthless additions to lower the functionality of the damn product.

On a similar note: They have a so called process available these days to unbrick a psp and downgrade any firmware version. Haven't really read too much about it but seems legitimate enough.

I don't know if its just the HN at Indro. Give em a call.
Its just the basic package so it doesn't come with games, earphones or memory stick.

My memory stick hasn't arrived yet so all I can use on it is its rather s***ty web browser which fails at java, flash and largish images.

Only got it for the homebrew (like most people I guess).

So what's the best firmware to put on it, and is there any risk of it dying in the process?

Got a linkie? I bricked my last PSP with a bodge firmware and had it replaced by Sony - I don't think they'll do it again though.

please stop buying sony products that are designed to take away your freedoms to actually use them in a useful way. If you want a portable media player check out the Linux-based Nokia N800. Even a Windows Mobile device is better than a PSP (though arguably not that much)!@#

i love my psp. got 16 games for it (although i only play 4 of them. Dj max portable, Dj max portable 2, Taiko no Tatsujin portable 2, Valkylrie profile: lynneth) i just wish i was able to go back to 1.50 so i could have sms, nes and snes games on it again. mabye i can get a 1.50 from ebay for cheapish

EDIT - how the hell you get FF7 on your psp? god i would love that.

EDIT 2 - the unbricking method is called Pandora, or something very close to that. it somehow manages to turn your battery into a unbricking machine. although when you do this, you cant use it normaly so you need a 2nd battery to use with your psp.

The SNES emulator is pretty good for most games but I can't get donkey kong country to run properly it runs really slow.

I bought mine from ebay v1.5 $275 included a 2GB mem stick and clear case (but didn't cover the screen so I don't use it). It was from a shop so they had heaps and you could choose all sorts of colours. I use 3.03 OE-C firmware.

I called indro Harvey Norman and they have no stock left for $149.. I also went to City Harvey Norman..none there..
I called the Valley HN, Cleveland HN, Carindale HN and Garden city HN and none of these stores had any for sale at $149 but they did have them at the original $279 price.

but in fact, cleveland were prepared to price match, except they needed proof that the PSP was at the price. So if there was some form of advertisement or anything that anyone would have?

Hey if JB price matches could i take my receipt etc and get more of them at JB? Cos the box I got with this one is s*** and I actually bought it as a present for someone. It's an ex-display box and it's busted as.

I could buy a JB one then give the one i got from Harvey to someone here...

somehow I don't think whoever you give it to will mind a buggered box. Some/most stores won't price match a sales price, though I think I heard on the radio clive peters is doing just that right now, matching anyone's catalog price.

also, sif buy sony

I got this in my email, since some of you were looking into unbricking your PSP..

Hope it doesn't break any forum rulez.

OzModChips have successfully tested a new method, and unbricked a bunch of
PSPs we had lying around. The service is by post, and costs only $80
including return postage. Best of all, we will upgrade your PSP firmware to
the best and latest 'hacked' version, which is what you wanted done in the
first place. For a limited time, this service is absolutely free!

All the information you need is on the product page right Here

it's not totally free - theyre just saying u pay for the unbricking, and theyll update the firmware for free.

ill probably send the psp i bought to these guys to mod for me tho.

Should i charge the battery first for them or what? (its a present im giving so i haven't opened box etc)

I bought my M3 Simply for my DS from them. Quick, good service.
I was going to post the email as a new thread when I got the email, however I'm pretty sure the forum nazi's wouldn't like that.
