Cockos Incorporated have released a new version of their excellent directory synchronising tool PathSync, with a bunch of cool new features and some UI changes. It's small so I won't mirror it, but if you ever need to keep directories in sync (such as files from home and work, or a USB drive or whatever) you should definitely check this out. It's free and open source software. |

How might this be an improvement over something like rsync in a cron script/scheduled task?
(I'm going to ignore for a moment the fact that I can't use this because I use Macs now). |

How might this be an improvement over something like rsync in a cron script/scheduled task? It's got a GUI? It's not really designed as a replacement for those things, its just a nice simple Windows app to do quick and easy syncing between directories. The only thing it doesn't do that I want is md5 comparisons of files. I've posted on their forum asking if anyone is already working on it but if not I might have a crack at hacking it myself. |
