This was taken almost a year ago. Dale and I decided instead of pissing it up for his 20th b'day we'd go hard at the Ekka Day Races... long story short, we both had a pretty miserable time (not because of each other) but that just made it so memorable and we laughed about it continuously after it was all done.

It's hard for me to not feel sad when I look at pics of he and I having some of the best times of my life, but in the end I am thankful that I knew him at all.

I went out with dale many times, I still have some video clips he made on my camera when we were out in the city and pics of his 18th we were at etc.

Thanks guys! Sue and I took Mitch to Bundy today, and got a pic of dale put on Sues shoulder. We will post pics of it once the ink settles.

Loki, I know that you are one of Dales mates, and it is for this reason that I hate it when we have our little misunderstandings. If you want to share some of your pics, then we would gladly put them on his website if you want to email them to his mum through the email address on Dales site. We would welcome any pics that anybody has, and we will get them online as quickly as possible.

Yes mate, he passed away in February 2007. We are simply remembering a strong man on his 21st birthday.

He would have loved to have made it Kat. He hung in as hard as he could just to make his Dad's birthday on the 22nd of February. He passed away in the early hours of the 23rd, and I so admire the strength of character that he had.

i still dont see why its worth noting the date of someones birth when they are dead. i get the fact that you have a hard time letting go and honetly think the members of qgl care, and going by the responses some of them do, but i question wether they would care enough to post a thread with out the influence of a grieving mother.

in no way am i taking a stab at you, i just have the sudden urge to question what the point of all of this is, cause frankly i think its disgusting to push your grief on to others, which honestly i cant tell if you are doing or not, but ill still put up a defensive wall when im unsure.

It's a thread, how is that pushing anything? It's not like anyone is forced to open it, respond or have feelings with no underlying basis. While for the people that care (which is not an insignificant number) it's an important reminder.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Mav would be laughing his head off.. Groydis has a point and I didn't take any offense to that because that is what QGL is all about.. and we all love to see other peoples opinions. FB only put this thread in so that when Mav's mates had a drink or a bet they might have one for him as well. I might be a grieving Mum but I do my grieving privately and don't push it on other people. However, I am concerned about James Loki... I hope he replies to my PM.

groydis, I see your point. I do find it funny how in a mav thread it isn't me pissing everyone off but someone else. That makes me smile. I am sure that would piss Mav off though :p

However I still think a 21st is a huge deal and since he has a lot of friends on here who may have forgotten I don't think this thread can be seen as pushing anyones grief onto anyone else.

To be reminded that Mav didn't even reach that milestone is a pretty sobering thought.

And as a mother, I don't think you could go past the birthday of your child dead or alive and not remember it. I am sure FB feels some sort of connection to Mav through QGL and while I think it is all well and good to poke fun at Mav or argue with him while he was sick - I am not about to extend that to a woman who has lost her son, at such an early age or by such means.
