Hi all, just resigned as beverage controller for cha cha char, looking for some off premise work for a change. i have a very good working knowledge of wine, spirits and beer and a passion for trying new things and teaching people more about booze and getting people to try different things. i have five years experience in bars and restaurants, excellent personal communication skills and august 3rd is my last day.

if anyone knows of anything going on close to the cbd or east brisbane sort of area, drop me a line via thread.
cheers!

Dan Murphy's Woolloongabba might be a good place to start.

How about the wine shop right next to McDonalds on eagle st? Isn't that like next door to Cha Cha Char?

f*** cha cha char, last time I went there I had a booking for 7 and wasn't seated until 8, and was near impossible to get served a drink while waiting to be seated

Which way is East?

If you are standing on either pole, every direction.

zak, considering i live four blocks from dan murphy's (just around the corner from the lord stanley) that was the first place i went to. but i've talked to a few people and apparently dan murphy's fine wine section is pretty hard to get in to considering they pay really well for a bottle shop.

and mongie, i've worked on the pier for the last year. i know the guy who is already employed at stewart's there and he spends half his time talking to me whenever i go out for a smoke.

zOr - it is hard to crack into. I used to be a manager there (not in fine wine though) and the people they had on were gurus. I know one has left, but I'd say the others would still be there.

Depends on what you want to do I guess - not going to be a great deal of bottle shops who want purely wine/bev experts - they want some grunt and muscle too.

Does Dan Murphy's tend to be the cheapest? I've always found them to have the best prices in the things I buy there and the staff handling the wine section are really good in seeing customers struggling in picking a good wine and recommending good ones

Dan murphys are good over all, but their specials are kick ass (asahi for $50).

apart from that it's just nice to have the choice they do.
