Well on my tour-de-Ireland mentioned in that other thread, upon my travels I managed to go to the Jameson & Bushmills distilleries. Got me a 12 year old Jameson, that can only be bought at the distillery, and it's even got my name on the label, I'll post pix later :D Again at Bushmills I got a 12 year old Single Malt that can only be bought at the distillery, and again, got my name on the lable, pretty chuffed with that. I also bought a 16 year old single malt from Bushmills too :D The taste testing was awesome too ;) |

you suck Heardy.
I've heard about the wonders of the Bushmills whiskey that you can only buy at the distillery. |

ohh man that s*** was f***ing smooooooth :D I went there with my parents (who came over this side of the world for a 2 month holiday! it's a hard life for them hey) aaaaaanyway, they both don't drink, so I managed to have 3 12y/o samples all to myself :D and I was the only driver, I was a little tippsy after 3 straight shots, well they were fairly liberal with the pours, so I'd say they were more then a standard shot too ;) |

I don't advocate your drinking driving escapades, but I do advocate Irish Whiskies. They are much smoother than scotch. Jameson ftw.

Bushmills Black is one of the finest whiskeys going around IMO.

Another vote for Tullamore Dew.
The wife and I did the 'whiskey trail' in Scotland once for three days solid. We can't remember a lot of it but our trip diary of the time is hilarious reading!. We were at Glenfiddich on her 29th birthday and when the tour guide found out at the end of the tour he swiftly presented us with a couple of free bottles (big ones not the s***ty little sample ones) and then the entire tour group decided to get smashed in the tasting bar afterwards. We left there with smething like 3 litres of whiskey in our bags! (almost as much in our veins) Did you know the slough that they scrape off the top of the whiskey fermenting vats is made into a fierce type of ale by the distellery labourers. Management let it go as its been sort of a tradition for a hundred years or so.. have fun Heardy...you lucky lucky bastard! :) |
