He said beer sales were showing a long-term decline, but overall spending on beer was rising because of a shift towards premium brands.

bogans won't be fooled by the "it won't change the taste" hype, they realise that removing 0.1% although a very small change indeed represents a dangerous precedent for potential future beer decreases

Industry experts say the VB alcohol content reduction - from 4.9 per cent to 4.8 per cent - could save Foster's $20 million in beer tax a year.
Less than $3.

4.9 to 4.8 omg end of the world!!!!

Mids are for when you start drinking at 10am, they do serve a purpose.

Most people I've met on the farms drink mids so they can still drive/ride bikes/shoot/tend crops and livestock safely.

10+ hours of drinking beers, the large majority of people can't keep that up.

If you're at a pub, house or have no plans on doing anything remotely difficult and you still drink mids... you're a softcock.

Don't bring other s*** into the debate.

I'm speaking purely from my own experience infi, I didn't stereotype every farmer.

The majority I've met never stop working (they got some f***ed ambition seriously). So even when they drink on a Saturday, every few hours or so they're still out to the shed/fields/feedlot checking and/or working on their produce.

On a very large property that is privately owned, I see absolutely no problem.

There are many fine beers.
However atm I am partial to Pils.

Super Dry is orright. James Boags is pretty nice.
Tooheys New is good, Carlton Draught is good.

I think a lot of beers are overrated such as Corona, Stella, Becks etc. but hey, I'll drink em if someone is buying.

Having said that I would drink VB and have nothing against it.

Then again, I drink to get drunk. I don't think any beer tastes so bad I would refuse it when offered.

VB and XXXX both taste very skunky to me so I am not a fan of either nor of most aussie beers in general.
Someone put me onto little creatures recently and it tasted very similar to VB to me as well which was a major dissapointment after the fanboi rants I endured about it.
If it makes you want to retch when you drink it I don't think it's worth it.
I would rather a XXXX gold for taste over 90% of aussie beers including the vaunted crownies.
(My opinion only).

Also Johnny red is very over rated even for "cheap" scotch, for around the same price you can pick up a bottle of william grants for a much smoother experience with equal or better smoke and taste.

Still though the johnny black is an awesome drop on the rocks for the mid range price so they do, do at least one drink thats nice.

For the best scotch drinking experience short of hundreds of dollars a bottle though (perhaps not even then) you can't go past Glen livet 15 years.
I would kill everyone of you for a bottle of that right now ... mmmmm.

Tall poppy? You are entitled to your opinion. However what gets my goat are people who dismiss Australian beers (or anything else for that matter) based on some idea that overseas products are automatically better. IMO Aussie beers are the some of the best in the world.

I would rather a XXXX gold for taste over 90% of aussie beers including the vaunted crownies.

Unfortunately any "beer credibility" you may have otherwise held is relinquished with this ridiculous statement. Wash your mouth out sir.

This sentence doesn't really make sense. Scotch is a variety of Whiskey (or whisky depending on what type you are talking about). The others being Irish and Bourbon. And then within Bourbon you have several varieties as well.
