Pretty interesting summary over at Gamasutra of Clive Barker's keynote speech at the Hollywood & Games summit in LA. He talks about his upcoming game Jericho, and more broadly, talks about narrative in games and games as art. And he gets pretty passionate about it too:
"We’ve lost our imaginations, and given them over to people who put plastic toys in with the hamburgers. f*** them! Let’s take our imaginations away from the people who want the lowest common denominator, and give it to all the people that were shot down in flames at the age of 5 or 6 who were shot down by their art teacher, who said they couldn’t draw a straight line." Link to the full thing. |
