VLC has been updated, bringing it to version 0.8.6c. The release contains an important security fix, and users are strongly recommended to update to the current version. Touted to be the first version with Vista compatibility, some users are still reporting some issues on Vista.

Apart from the security issue, here's a few key parts of the changelog.

Various bugfixes, notably:
* Windows Vista compatibility
* Cropping in Direct3D
* Fullscreen change crash on Mac OS X
* RSS filter string overflow
* Few memory leaks
* MKV demuxer crash (related to seeking)

didnt have any problems with the last one under vista :/

when I used .85 or whatever in vista it would cause aero to go into basic mode. that is probably the 'issue'.
